A Different Review

lamb chops do you rate polak as a player. if yes i can understand wanting him if no why bring another dud to the club for the sake of a deal. imo polak is not worth a cracker.maybe haddril whose opportuniyies at freo are going to be limited with mcpharlin johnson mundy and drum all going past him.howabout coughlan a sandgroper and our 3rd pick for haddrill and their first.
imo krakouer should either be traded for whatever pick we can get for him or delisted.

Not really Claw - just gut a gut feel about him - I never understood the hype about him because he is innefective with the ball. A couple of times this year however he showed a bit of presence. Could be a lost cause but if he can add some grunt and intensity to his game could be very good = lovely mark but maybe a one trick pony?

can he handball?
we have plenty of willing running recievers in Raines, Bowdens, Thursty, JON
if he can outmark his opponent or spoil a pack he will do me - hand off to the runners

Take a long view.

If trades talked about on this thread don't result then wait.  Next year a number of players who are of a dubious or at least debatable long term benefit to the team come up for contract renewal.  It feels right to leave yourself a few *u*s for next year as well.

By this time next year Wallace will have had the time (some of the younger players taken on by the club before Wallace came rightly have deserved time to show if they can make it or not) and opportunity (contracts up for renewal) to carve anyone on the list that he wants.  IMO October 07 will be the first time Wallace will really be able to say that he has had the opportunity to use or lose the entire list.  What is it 27 gone so far?

I am actually getting really positive.  BUT watching Sydney and West Coast on the weekend really brought home the gap between the top three teams and the rest of the comp.  Its going to take longer than five years and it will be interesting to see how the fans and Wallace take the graph going backwards instead of forwards.

Although a lot of people are expecting us to play finals football next year, I’m not one of them. When Wallace first took over I didn’t expect him to have us in the finals until 2008.

Now, after seeing where we are at this year with our list, making an assesment of the youngsters we’ve drafted to date, watching the finals series this year and then determining where other clubs are at, I’m not even sure if 2008 will be it ? Dunno.

I just reckon that whilst we are finally heading down the right track (sort of) we are still a long way off from being a genuine finals side, year after year. This is why this time of year is just so crucial to the RFC imo.

OK, here goes:

I'm not one for knocking players (Ottens was a special case, tho) but every time I read these threads about trades and delistings I find 2 names pop up in my mind - Tuck and Cogs.

I have never been rapt in Cogs, I have to admit. I have tried and I give him the credit of being a good in-and-under player, but I still wonder about the reputation he has on PRE.

He is not fast; he is not a great kick or an accurate one; he does not do enough damage on the scoreboard and he is injury-prone.

I don't think we can afford to have both Tuck and Cogs in the same team. At present I feel Tuck has more to offer the team TW is building than does Cogs.

One other thing, Krak has had long enough to come good. One or two reasonable games a year is not enough to keep carrying him.

I agree with Big Red - we are a long way off playing in finals.
