Interesting reading the papers and hearing the rumours about player/ club/ $ disharmony at this time of the year.
With the exception of the awkwardness of the Andrew Kellaway incident, the Richmond football club seems to have things going well for player/ club happiness. It seems we have a pretty good group of blokes who seem happy to stay together.
Each day we read of indivuduals' problems with their clubs. Be it Tarrant at Collingwood, the Brisbane problems, Spida's saga, The Saints players not being happy the way Thomas was treated, Polak at Freo, Gardiner at the Eagles, Hart at the Crows... I am sure there are alot more.
But along with say; the Bulldog's; and I am sure a few other clubs... Terry and co. seem to have everyone working together. I know we had major problems in the past; like the Northey/ Maxfield issues...
Just an observation from a long way away, but in my opinion; keep up the good work Terry. And of course congrats to those behind the scenes who keep the club running and the players and coaches happy and at ease that they can concentrate on bringing the roar back to the Mighty Tigers!
Giggity Giggity

Everything well said Flea, except for the part about the 'awkwardness of the Andrew Kellaway incident'.

There was nothing awkward about AK being shown the door. It had to happen and TW had justified the RFC's actions just finely.

Just because some on PRE got their noses out of joint and they stirred up alot of hoo-haa that Andy should of been retained and he had this sort of quality and that sort of quality was starting to become like The David Tench Show :hihi...............................anyway they'll get over it.

I have a close source to the club that advises me that the young players adore TW
and will do anything for him

Brown noseing the coach (when you want to stay on the game day list) will always happen..............

lol at not mentioning the johnno thing

worst of the lot imo

Good onya for pointing out how little turmoil we've actually had this year if you think that's an incident worth mentioning. :clap

Of course there's harmony.

We just climbed to our natural position of 9th.

i agree with flea, the turnaround in 2 years has been staggering when you truly think about it. there is no controversy around the club anymore. we have stability at long last. we are on the way up. gone are the days when we are "eating our own"

The journos must be hating it, no cheap headlines to sell a few extra papers.

2004 + 5 years = 2009. That's how long it will take to erase the misery of a wooden spoon and Richmond's worst on field record in history;
Only then will you be able to convince me that Punt Rd is a "good environment";
One of the biggest problems with our club is capitalising on steady improvements;
We failed miserably after 1995 (think Northey & recruiting) and similarly after 2001 (think Frawelys extension & recruiting);
With the words from a typical football cliche, your only as good as your last game, in Richmond's case, that should not be forgotten !

Dont underestimate the value of 9th. Representative of the average Aussie battler. Richmond is Australia!

what an over statement staggering. i could make an argument that says yes there has been improvement  but we have come from such a low base it wouldnt have mattered who took over there would have been improvement.imo there has been mimimal improvement.

"No controversy, we have stability, on the way up, gone are the days we are eating our own.............".

Yes, I have to agree on your observations Ian, however, all these positives may turn to negatives if any member of the RFC, from the current boardroom down to the bootstudder, fail to comply with club's 'current plan' to continuosly improve.

Quite frankly, I think the clubs current climate is just hovering above the 'bottom line'. The club is just starting to clean up it's tarnished image off & on the field. We have been the laughing stock of the AFL for a number of years, we've hardly played finals footy for a very long time, and we still have a massive debt to wipe off.

The real test for the club will be 2007, TW, the players, and without a doubt the starved supporters are expecting the club to play finals next year. The only excuse if they don't make the finals will be injuries to key players.

Fringe players and 2nd & 3rd year players MUST take the next step in their career, our membership base MUST exceed 30K, and winning interstate games against the clubs that have pulled our shorts down for many years are just some of the improvements that MUST happen if we are to move forward, and last but not least, that bloody Hummel brand MUST dissapear from Punt Road, bring in a more reputable clothing brand and get our S&M people to CREATE FRESH apparell for our supporters and generate more income.

In other words, we are a long way away from the benchmarks!

Agree with the majority of your post gpb but at this point in time i dont think we can make it into the eight next year on even ground with other clubs competing with that position. Another year ontop of next year with more games into the younger guys then yes i would expect that but who knows hey. Based on what we have atm i cant see it - bring on a strong trade period i say....time for some hard decisions which we may not of seen in a long time down at tiger land....

Good post GPB.

Not sure about whether the rest will happen but fortunately Hummel has disappeared.

Reebok will be looking after our apparel for next year. Have a look at the off field board. 8)
