I dont rate Andrew Jarman. He is the Jason Akermanis of South Australia. One sensationalist comment after another.
Got it right there!! I bet Johnson doesn't rate that wan#er as a team mate either!!!

They would rather play VFL at the moment than come to us. We are a laughing stock, and no talented player would come and play for us by choice. And you can't import a leader against his will.

He was spot on with his comments regarding the hands-in-the-back rule though....classic stuff after Burton took the mark that was disallowed... :hihi...gave it to Bartlett as well. 8)

I thought he came across as a *smile*ing idiot myself...

I actually thought Burton did not take the mark anyway. Disgraceful decision for hands in the back. The sooner they rid this rule of the game the better.
Zoso,
You don't agree that the rule is ridiculous and disallowed a contender for mark of the year?
That is why Jarman was going off his tree about and he was right.
Sure, he sounded more loud than normal because it was a Crows player that had been affected by it, but I felt the same way when Richo had the ball (and a 50m penalty) go against him against the Bombers earlier this season.

Jarman speaks with knowledge and passion. Classic comments after the Burton 'mark' (not sure he fully controlled it though).

I like the man - even though he's a croweater.

And he's right about Jonno - he wouldn't be getting a game if he wasn't skipper.

Jarman was a legendary footy player. Tis a pitty he didnt get to play much afl as well.

The thing is, that players like jarman and akermanis can be as outrageous as they like. They not onloy talk the talk, but walk the walk.

We've got 2 options:

1. Take the plunge and go with a youngster ala Foley or Lids.

2. Import some leadership ala Judd or Bartel.

We can't sustain the status quo and our alternate senior players are no better or nearly finished.

There is a third option, multiple captains, something which I'm coming around to given our lack of a clear stand out choice.

I agree the rule is ridiculous, i never disputed that. The way Jarman carried on was over the top, like i said he came across as a *smile*ing idiot, which he is anyway.
Agree with you Zoso but you have to hand it to all those that continue to cause any negativity about this rule & this nutball did his bit as well. Most don't care until it affects them personally.

My dream is for this year's GF is decided by a decision based on this rule & hope a massive uproar occurs that spoils the day for the AFL to realise how stupid this is.

If he used his brain as much as his mouth he would have. Heap of talent, unfortunately just a complete moron.

Still can't believe he is captain. He is the worst captain getting around, both in leadership and ability.
Uhhh... Lance Whitnall anyone?

I'm with you there. Richo as co-captain with one of the youngsters (Foley?), maybe.

The zoo is pretty good though

IMO I do not like Co-Captains. It's the Clayton's approach. We already have leadership teams et al so it would just be another level of that. Plus if they had to chose multi-Captains you could not chose any senior player on the list other than richo because the rest are a pretty timid lot generally playing for themselves. You only had to be at the Geelong game earlier in the year to see that the only guys that did not stop trying were Richo and Foley. Not a peep out of anyone else. Now I love Richo because you can see this guys really loves the Tiges and runs his guts out but I also think he is not the answer. No matter how much he tries he also lets the side down too much. His emotions take him over at times and he completly loses the plot. This is not the example the young guys need plus Richo is drawing towards the twilight of his career. Finding a real leader at Richmond is the million dollar question. A person with a cool head, intelligent, skilled, passionate, able to lead by example and someone not afraid to put a rocket up his team mates or the opposition. We all know the great Captains when we see one and finding one at Richmond at the moment is limited to perhaps one person at the moment. I can only see Foley and I am scared he is too young. He has risen out of adversity to be our best player this year still willing to attack when we are getting pumped. Whilst Patto is no champ he keeps trying and never drops his chin.

The club have this challenge along with many, many more. If they pass over Johnson as I believe they should I really hope they do not give it to someone like Bowden etc that whilst they believe they have tried they have really not cut the mustard.

Some thoughts anyway.

Regards Jarman, yep a bucket mouth but he was a very smart and skillful footballer and his observations are pretty much spot on. The truth hurts folks.
