Reading the thread on the Kangaroos in the Journos thread was interesting to me. Some of the comments about whether we'd love/hate or couldn't care less about the Kangas predicted demise got me to thinking. Which teams (apart from the obvious RFC) would we have an emotional response to going down the gurgler? I found myself starting to rank the teams in order of most hated to least hated. Here's my own ladder ...
1. Essendon - it's an in-law thing. I love to beat them more than anyone. Raining on the Sheedy/Hird parade and the '95 Semi - priceless.
2. Carlton - arrogance beyond loathing.
3. St.Kilda - poor bugger me when truth is they self-destruct at every chance.
4. Collingwood - plays the system for more favour than any other. Then whine about it.
5. Sydney - the AFL's teacher's pet.
6. Kangaroos - most annoying supporters at the footy. They don't get it.
7. Hawthorn - just bugged that we were seen as equals only a few short seasons ago.
8. Fremantle - meh
9. Port Adelaide - ditto. I like that we seem to play ok against them.
10. Adelaide - always admired their strong bodies and strong admin. Hated their success though.
11. Western Bulldogs - don't mind the Dogs too much, but I laugh at their fans when they inevitably choke.
12. West Coast Eagles - it's a player thing. Was a big Jakovich, Matera, Cousins (!), Kemp, etc fan.
13. Brisbane - ditto. For Voss, Lynch, Johnson, Black, Aker, etc.
14. Geelong - family connection. Was pleased for them about recent success. Although I LOATHE Bomber Thompson.
15. Melbourne - pity. Pure & Simple. It's hard to hate what you feel sorry for.
