Re: Victory call on all Victorians this Saturday night

Is Dwight Yorke still at Sydney FC this season? If so is he starting on the field?

I might have to go and support the Victory. Was close to going for the first time last week.

HAven't been since the last season of NSL. Is the atmosphere different?

Yorke no longer at Sydney FC.Accepted an offer to join Roy Keane's Sunderland for an extra $600k p.a

Interesting to see if/how Sydney try to replace their 'franchise' asset in due course, particuarly now that all the major o/seas leagues are underway...

...and transfer-window closes 9am tomorrow morning (our time).

I'll be at the game Saturday night.

Interesting that no-one has mentioned the surface yet, which will surely play a part in the game.

With an AFL match at the Dome Friday night, and as we know its an already dodgy surface to play on, then it will surely cause a bit of concern for a soccer game, where an immaculate surface is beneficial for a high-standard of game.

For anyone who wants the theme song:

Victory the Brave

Oh Melbourne, hear the sound of drumming
Must be the Victory coming
Pumped up and full of running
Victory the brave

Blue, white and silver flying
Strike like a flash of lightning
Revved up and full of fighting
Victory the brave

And in the heat of battle
Stand up and show no fear
Proud and courageous
Marching on to Victory

Oh Melbourne, hear the sound of drumming
Must be the Victory coming
Pumped up and full of running
Victory the brave

Melbourne Victory 1-0 CCM

A great atmosphere at a nearly full Olympic Park.

Archie T scored the winner in the second half but we should have had 3 goals in the first. CCM gave us a few scares in the last 15 minutes as we sat back and defended.

Great to stand on the terrace, beer in hand, singing and chanting. I finally have found a sport to follow in the off-season.
