A-League threads [Merged]

I think Max just needs more time to get match fit and Muscat and the team need more time to work out where he fits in best as well. Haven't seen enough of him to understand what his key qualities are.

Although we were playing an undermanned Jets, what I like the most was that we moved around continuously, making space and making options, and when we lost the ball the majority tracked back to help defend. Can't lose too many games playing that way IMO.

Yep, and another goal for Fornaroli. Just going about our business and doing it without too much effort.

but lots of help from the officials :-) Fornaroli initiates the holding, almost kicks Rossi in the head, and then gets a penalty?!

Yeah. Lucky eh? Oh well, gotta take them when you get them.

It looks like refs have been instructed never to book Melb City players and give them soft penalties
Melb City: 22 yellows, 1 red

Geelong Victory: 14 yellows, 0 reds

Geelong Victory: 14 yellows, Opponents: 23 yellows

Melb City: 22 yellows, 1 red Opponents: 26 yellows

Nice try though...but then again, its hard trying to see things objectively with one eye open

...and penalties? Geelong 3 Opponents 1

MC 3 Opponents 1

Some others

Conspiracy theories that the FFA are out to get them:
Geelong 1
MC 0

Best foreign import ever:
Geelong 0
MC 1

Best Australian player:
Geelong 0
MC 1

Sense of entitlement:
Geelong 1
MC 9

Moaners, whingers and one eyed supporters on this thread:
Geelong 8
MC 0

not sure how relevant yellow card decisions are (albeit undeservedly lopsided yesterday and the constant hacking of a former Victory legend). its the refereeing decisions that have gone your way all season so far. and no one is even talking about the offside on Bulut last week which was just about the worst one of them all. the FFA cup final will be interesting this week... its the FFA's 2 favourite teams up against each other... someone has to lose :hihi

Will the FFA make an AFLesque decision and award it to both of them ??

Best import ever in the A League is now Man of the Match in Cup winning final.

Double for the best football club in Melbourne is ON!!

The First of many. Solid win but I need Joe and Ian to post here so I can know how many times the Ref helped us soon.

Sorry , didnt see the game, was at an education session on diabetes at the local Park Hotel (true, drug company sponsored free food and beer) :-) At least Sydney didnt win!

Well done City!!

Toughed it out and got the win.

Cahill once again the man who steps up in the big games. Clinical finish.

I thought Solazo was BOG. He is a class above in the league.

Good to see Arnold and Brosque sooking it up during and after the game.

Not a bad crowd for Citeh.

Congrats to them on their first trophy. Hard to know who to barrack against in that one.

I was hoping they would both lose :cutelaugh

Good to see Timmy score though, he just has that knack of making it happen when it counts. True champ.

congratulations to FFA City for winning the FFA cup!!! Hope Shaun Evans get a winners medal!!

nah not salty at all. i'm actually laughing at Sydney. 2447 days and counting since they last won a trophy :hihi

the game was absolute poo though. not exactly a show piece for the sport. it was always gonna come down to a mistake or a quality finish.

and i'm convinced Sydney aren't much chop. when you're relying on Matt Simon and Alex Brosque to score, and relying on spuds like Jurman and Grant to keep the goals out... plus they gave absolutely nothing in that last 15 minutes when they were (supposedly) chasing the game... could well be a derby GF this year.

and good on city for getting 18,000. but will the theatre goers return after last night? that's the big question.

Timmay's goal was a Timmay special, header at the far post back across goal and in at the near post. Hope he does a few more of those for the national team.
