A-League threads [Merged]

Great win on the road against an in form WSW. Bes is back! Top of the golden boot to boot. Broxham and Thomas the next best IMO. Jai Ingham, wow, what a cross, couldn't have hit it sweeter! Even Beister showed some class but still clearly unfit.

Great Victory for the Victory tonight. One point behind Baby Manchester Citeh with a game in hand - should be a great Derby this week!

Congratulations to Besart Berisha too - leading the goal scoring table despite playing one game less, his fourth hat-trick in his A-League career, and now second and only one goal behind the great Archie Thomson on the all-time A-League goal scoring table.

Thomas has really come on this season, he is so much better than Vukovic in that sweeping role. Our defenders would appreciate the confidence to pass back when needed.

Troisi continues to disappoint IMO. Is much better suited to LW, he could score a lot of goals there. If we could offload Bozanic, a genuine number 10 would improve our side significantly.

I forgot to mention Thomas. What an epic save that was.

Troisi started off slow, but is getting his stuff together. But I agree we need a more creative player in the midfield

Strange how quiet the Melbourne City "fans" on here become when Victory wins and they don't. They only whinge when they're winning I guess :hihi

Anyways, good tactical discussion on Victory vs WSW here https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/dec/12/melbourne-victorys-football-made-at-times-to-look-elegant-in-its-simplicity

Berisha's brutal goals per game efficiency over the total of his A-League career - no-one in the A-League has ever come close, you have to go back to NSL days of Farina, Mori and Seal to even get near him.

Highest goals/game ratio (>50 goals scored)
0.64 BERISHA (89gls/139games)
0.54 David Seal (67/123)
0.54 Mori (240/447)
0.50 Farina (102/206)

Bruno's travelling at 0.88. Still needs a few more games though.

Should be a good game this week.

Ah antboy, City fans care about City. Really don't give two flying whatever's about Carlton Victory. It's you Victory mob weighed down by those massive chips on your shoulders that want to talk about City as much as you do about your team.

But if it's encouragement and attention you need, then ok, well done Victory. Good to see you starting to play reasonable football

Do you want us to have a whine about our ref to really make it seem like we are Victory supporters in denial?

interesting article. and I think we're at an interesting stage. I don't think we're at the top of our game and we're having our issues with continuity, but we're probably playing better football than most teams atm, which is encouraging. Rojas to miss again this week i'm hearing. hopefully Austin will be back though.

The FFA should be coming down hard on the play acting. The refs are just having a giggle about it. So easily fixed IMO.

about 5 years ago the FFA brought in a rule (separate from FIFA rules) that meant an automatic 2 suspension if the MRP concluded that a player took a dive from an incident that resulted in a red card or penalty. I don't believe anyone has been suspended as a result of this rule. they set the precedent when Ryall was charged and got off after what he did about 18 months ago and now they're too weak to come down harder.

'They'? One person mentioned it. But good on you for making an assumption on our behalf.

Dont worry. I'm always around. I just don't feel the need to post just to make myself feel important.

Oh, is that why we post on PRE? That's several million posts from people trying to make themselves feel important. Strange world eh?

Thought it reasonably strange that you had to announce my presence. Each to their own I guess...

Clearly best striker this league's seen. Bradmanesque difference on those numbers.

Will show it again on the weekend to continue the season's clean sweep of Carlton.
