A-League threads [Merged]

Wtf were city doing passing the ball around the back during the last 10 mins? No urgency, no heart, no points.

I thought Troisi played his best game for the season, Rojas was superb he just keeps racking up the goals and assists, and our back four were awesome.

Great match. City seemed to be waiting for some FornaHill magic moment to spark them into life in the second whereas Carlton's workmanlike grinding got the result they deserved.

It's going to be an interesting season and as a Melbournite first, I'd love a Melbourne Derby as the Final.

[BinMan4ModeOn]These A League refs need to be shot. That cheating turk's goal was so offside you could have parked Gina Reinhardt between the last defender and Berubbisher. and don't even mention the two reds those cheating carlton tough guy wannabes should have had during one of the hundreds of melees they tried to start. No skill, just wanted to fight it out as they know they have no chance to match our skill. But typical Carlton, always lift when they play us. It's their Grand Final and they'd prefer to come last but beat us any day of the week. and don't get me started on their weak as p!ss copycat "active" supporters. What a joke ! [/BinMan4ModeOff]

All jokes aside, it was a cracking game, especially the first half. No doubt in my mind we deserved the 3 points, despite some suggestions of offside for our second goal.

But from a personal POV, the joy that this club brings to its fans shows no bounds. You can spin it however you want, but this club has more substance on its pinky than the whole of the RFC combined. I'm passionate about this club because they are winners. And I've spent my whole life following a bunch of losers. Makes a big difference to the psyche, believe me.

What tripe.

Unless by RFC, you mean Romford Football Club.

Gibberish of the year winner.

Can only hope you *smile* off completely if that's your attitude

Victory clearly the better side should have won by more. City got some big problems can't create enough chances. Haven't replaced the loss of Mooy ans Novillo.

Yeah, was surprised Caceras didn't get a run, maybe he was injured. Turns out I got to the game as a got an early leave pass from the engagement party and a friend scored tix in the City Gold section lol. Sitting on the touchline far wing, nice.

Saw City had 67% possession, which is very one-sided, yet were so open at the back on the counter-attack. The loss of Jacobsen for this game hurt them as Kilkenny had to play as a true centre-half rather than drifting into midfield as he has done in previous games. Despite this I think most teams have worked out how to play over and around the City midfield press which worked so well in the first five games.

I felt Victory's back four won us the game - despite City's possession they had almost no clear cut chances and Brandan/Fornarolli/Cahill could not create in that final third. Classic Cahill headed goal though. Then once they turned it over Victory were away.

Props to two City boys - the young centre half who was partly responsible for the last goal, but looks a quality player. And to Luke Brattan, despite doing the groin in the first half played through it and still contributed. I couldn't believe he wasn't subbed off.

Yeh, Brandan is too selfish on the ball, had a few opportunities to use his teammates but goes alone too often. Bouzanis didn't need to charge rojas on the berisha goal. He was offside but it was close and he got the benefit. Brattan wasn't right.

Carlton victory the better side on the night.

He came in with a groin injury, was warming up in front of us before the game & was clearly hindered

OK - he definitely aggravated it in the first half and by the end of the game could hardly walk. Can see why they want him to play though, great workrate and good technically. If fit he'd be first picked every game.

What happened to Novillo?

The club's only an adolescent at 12 years of age. The bad times will come as it happens in any sports league. Watch the mass exodus then.

That goal was definitely off-side, but then again who cares...
