I wouldn't be writing off Victory just yet. We'll have Celeski, Kemp and Thompson back throughout the next season and still have a very strong side. We definitely need a top of the range striker to support Kruse and replace Thompson. Duganzic looks good but similar to Kruse. Defence is OK - I reckon Muscat will play on, Leijer is class, Vargas is still OK but showing signs of ageing. Sukha and Kemp are our best, Berger not so much. We need cover or a replacement for the calamitous Moss now that Mitchell has gone to Deutschland.

Midfield still looks strong once Celeski gets back. Broxham has come on very well at the end of last season and in the Asian Cup as a DM. Carlos, Angulo, Brebner (who showed some form last season). Youngsters - Duganzic (as mentioned), Behich, Son of Silvio (Foschini) and others look promising.

agree with all that. i don't see kruse or duganzic as out and out strikers... more right sided AM's. but kruse has done reasonable job as a central striker when he gets enough ball fed to him. he will need support and i expect victory to sign a quality striker as our international marquee.

don't be surprised to see broxham play right back with celevski returning. he played there a few times in season 5 and he's easily our best crosser. kemp will play left back when he returns with muscat and leijer in the centre of defence. we need to find a new centre back with muscat surely in his last year and its looking like vargas is past it. we also can't rule out receiving offers for leijer - imo he's too good for the HAL and should really be in europe.

as for moss, that is a real concern. lets hope a trip to the world cup can inspire him to greater things when he returns because we know he can play. he just needs to get his confidence back. if only theo had held on a little longer before signing with the roar.

Merrick has shown he can recruit very well with a minimum of fuss - I'd be expecting a couple of quality signings before August.

merrick and cole have proven time after time that they are the best talent scouts in australian domestic football and i expect more of the same this year. as i stated in an earlier post, we are cashed up now after the langerak transfer.

I wonder if you will be laughing when he puts three past Moss later in the year? ;D ;)

Victory have confirmed a friendly against Boca Juniors on July 16th at etihad.

also looking at signing another costa rican - Cristian Oviedo a 31 yo DM from Alajuelense. strange if true - i would have thought we have more than enough DM's and not enough strikers.

mmmmm thats odd aint it? Carlos to go further forward??

its odd, but if true we still have 1 more visa spot to fill with brebner being given australian residency. you'd expect that to be saved for the international marquee/new striker.

not sure Tigerbob will be happy to hear this considering heart were chasing him, but i heard a rumour that victory have an offer on the table for richard porta.

heart have released their memberships packages.

http://admin.footballaustralia.com.au/site/_content/document/00001697-source.pdf

short summary - their GA is the same as our premium C ($225). their active area is in the south end (compared to our north). their north end is all GA. their away kit is white with a red sash (as was rumoured).

hey ian4!

gonna be interesting when victory play heart at aami as hearts home game. i see their active support is one small bay up the south end and then all other seats around them are general admission. Wonder if the south end boys will be able to purchase those GA tix around their active support??? could be quite a spectacle and an interesting night?????

That's GA Memberships mate, not GA.

GA to our home games will be the Blacked out area's, all others will be members area's. I suspect teh away bay down the Northside corner will be another pocket for your Active Support.

i think we'll end up taking the whole of the north end (combined north terrace and south end active supporters) for derbies at aami when heart are the home team.

Tigerbob, did your supporter group request the south end as their active area? or were you just lumped there?

personally i think heart are making a mistake by having GA areas in a 30k stadium... nut maybe thats a sign of a low supporter base?

You are not understanding.

The GA areas you see are GA members, or Catergory C members if you will. We have already had a massive amount of them sold. Our research indicates we have a lot of uni students and families that will jump on board our team, so as you can see from our Membership package we have very low Family packages and a lot of our cheapest type, General Admission membership.

As for the Supporter Group, the Active Support wanted to differentuate themselves from the Victory and requested the South End to call home.

You will not have the whole North side for our home games as our members will be sitting there. You will have that little pocket on the Northside (I suspect your BWB or whatever it is will request that area)and also the upper levels that are blacked out on our membership brochure.

As I said a lot of research has been done to cater to our supporters. Families and GA Members has been selling like hot cakes at the minute. Just like we thought. Also our Active support area is filling up quickly which is a surprise, we didn't think we'd have that many numbers that soon. I guess people were waiting patiently.

I like the mix of support we have attracted and I have no doubt we will sell the vast majority of allocated seats we have.

As for Richard Porta, he would be the perfect fit for the Victory and would be just what you need. I am not upset by you taking him, good to see good players in the A-League. I am delighted with our squad and we will be adding some more pieces to the puzzle soon.

yeah but you're not allocated a specific seat aren't you?

nah, i reckon you're just catering for us :P

you're kidding yourself if you don't think we'll be allocated a bigger area then the away bay.

good luck to you, but how do you define "hot cakes?" how many? can't be that many if you're not including the blacked out areas.

yeah hope it's true. word is that he's keen but is still contracted to his uruguayan team.

LOL Ian.

Everything we do doesn't have to be something against the Victory. Gee whiz you are paranoid.

General Admission memberships area are allocated to our members. I am not kidding myself you will not be given a bigger space. Jsut because you are the Victory doesn't mean we bend over for you. The blacked out area is not on sale for memberships, yet. If and when we do sell out of the alloted spaces, then we open the upper levels as Cat A and B available for purchase. We want the lower levels full first, and since we are NEW we don't know the exact amount of members we will be getting.

Selling like hot cakes well in a day since they have gone on sale we have sold over 3,000 memberships. Not bad at all.

Not me, if Heart does well it's good for football in Melbourne even if some jump ship from Victory.

This is what it's all about. The good of the game.

Just Ian and his BWB peeps are a tad hardcore for no apparent reason. I will never work it out, so I have given up trying.

We are happy to be the minnows, so long as we bring in new people to the game and the A-League. Who knows, we may even surprise some with the numbers we get. ;D ;)

hardcore? :rofl

apart from the flares (which i hate), why is victory so hardcore? simply because our support is the most passionate? because we make the most noise? sing the best chants? have the best away support? don't listen to the talk about so called hooligans/ultra wannabes. and don't listen to all the verbal diarrhea on melbournevictory.net.
