I was stumped by learning that a player can play both a VFL & AFL game on the same weekend.

Those of you who read the results would have seen that Jarryd Roughead, on Saturday, was BOG with Box Hill and kicked 4 goals. On the Sunday, he played with Hawthorn, at AAMI Stadium, although he had no significant role in the game.

Over the years, many have pondered whether a player can play in both comps in the same weekend. It's refreshing to see that the Hawkers have challenged convention.

Although, judging from Roughead's limited output on the Sunday, there may be some practical arguments against what the Hawkers have done. Mind you, Jarryd's a young man, steep challenges are good for the soul.

Yep, I am sure I have heard of teams playing players for two games (AFL and VFL) ... I think it was Essendon who did it a while ago?

Heath Shaw played 2 games on the same weekend early last year. After playing in the VFL he backed up the next day for Pies & got 24 posessions.Hasn't looked back since.

Me wonders how they can do this, but playing State of Origin is too much for the coaches to take.
