Yesterday the Weekend section of the H/S had an article by my friend Cheryl Critchley about another friend Robert Jones.

The article was a lovely story about Rob, who's been profoundly deaf for most of his 40 years, recently receiving a cochlear implant.  He was able to hear a baby cry for the first time in his life, the newborn baby being his nephew Harry.

Many years ago Rob, and his brother, attended  a special school for deaf people.  Sheeds and Royce Hart used to visit the school and spend hours on end playing kick to kick with the boys.

As a result the family are devoted Tiger fans.

A lot goes on at football clubs that we never read about but it's stories like this I wish were told.  A simple gesture by a club and it's players can go a such a long way, not only in enriching the lives of others, but also towards influencing future generations of Tigers.

Actually I must send little Harry a Richmond teddy. Best to get in first in case he is ever tempted to barrack for another team.  ;)

(Edit:  In case people look for the article to read about the Tiger connection that's just my addition.  The article is about Rob and doesn't mention Richmond. )
