A Positive from the year so far Dean Polo

I've always wondered why Terry didn't play Polo. And leave football coaching to people who know something about it

There were reportedly discipline problems.

Why would that be??

If you need to ask that question than we must be watching a different player - would he get a game ant Geelong or St kilda ? Now where near it. they are the current benchmarks and he is miles off. Foot skills not up to it

He made a couple of bad mistakes this week, but overall his kicking has been quite good this year. Very few turnovers.

He's statistically at least as good (gets more of it, makes less errors) as Robert Eddy, Andrew McQualter, Colm Begley, James Gwilt, Clinton Jones and Steve Baker who all get games for the Saints, not to mention a number of guys on their list who don't get regular games.

blinkers disco, dont even bother

undecided on this bloke.

sometimes think he's a smart player but then think he's too slow, average kick.

His skinny legs are a worry - he needs to do some serious squats and calf lifts in the gym if he wants the strength for a run with role.

Starting to get a fair bit of the ball and seems able to win more than a fair share of 50:50 balls on the half-back line.
We could do worse than simply leave him be for the rest of the year and let him settle down in partnership with Tambling as our rebounding half back flankers.

His decision making is a problem. He takes too long to kick after a mark. By the time he does kick it, the opposition are all manned up.

I'm a fan - always have been. its the intangibles i like with him - he is very clean at times of high presuure - he plays best when the match is tight - he is a good last quarter player. smart and makes good decisions

BUT

if i were Richmiond i would tailor his next preseason to sprinting and getting some power in those legs. He shuffle runs and doesn't lift his arms when running. A sprint coach concentrating on running 200's and 400's over summer could work wonders.

Dean sometimes tends to decelerate when running with the ball and can occasionally offer the handball to a static target.

He's got the engine - if he can find a yard or two through refining his technique - he has the ticker, moves and smarts to be a very good player

Always plays better with his socks pushed down, as they were last night.

A couple of games earlier in the year he had them up, and he looked slow.

Are you for real or having a lend ??

He reminds me a little bit of Ken Hunter.

The thing is, he is going to need to have Hunter's determination to succeed if he is going to make it. Showing some signs of this over the last few weeks, needs to keep it up and keep getting better.

well summed up harold sometimes looks the goods but other times very ordinary indeed. i suppose hes borderline and as such depth. would probably categorise him as borderline core / below standard. would still be looking to upgrade on him but theres a few who would go first.

For all Terry failing, lets try and keep our hats on people.

As previously noted, Polo's had some issues off-field, and last I checked, some injuries. As for Wallace and giving him a chance, I note he's played all games bar round one this year - so go new coach! You give that kid a go, and I'll sit and read some douche-bags rewrite history for you ...

This presentation is now concluded... <humbly bows>

He may look awkward at times, he may not be the most gifted player on our list, but Polo is a footballer.

This seems to be forgotten in this day and age where we are obsessed with athletic attributes.

A backman who has a bit of nous and puts his kahunas on the line when it is his turn. I can live with that.

hmm had to go again. i think the fact so many are still so unsure about this bloke sort of sums up where he is.
i dont think hes ever going to be to much more than he is already because of this i think hes expendable but like i said before theres others who really should go before.
