Why,through the year is the Tribunal adament to outlaw any type of physical contact to the head AT ALL, and with big penalties to boot, YET Sam Mitchell can take off Garry Ablett's head in a classic "coat hanger" in the second quater in the middle, and NOT GET A THING!!!!!

Bloody hell, is it any wonder fans get frustrated......

In a normal home and away match that would've been 3-4 matches ???

Your thoughts

I agree.

I thought Sam Mitchell was GONE for the head high bump on Ablett, thought it was quiet ridiculous that decision.

Was the explanation that he was pushed? What someone pushed his arm into Ablett's throat? Absolutely ludicrous. He deserved probably 3 weeks considering it was a GF.

You don't get suspended in finals any more. The publicity for missing an incident is far less than the publicity for a suspension. Case in point - Brendan Goddard.

What is even more laughable is when you consider the fact the AFL were getting concerned about all the build up with comparisons to the 89 grand final and said there would be extra scruitiny and consequences for melees/striking.

ALL umpires should be treated like players & judged on their performance.

No excuse in this case for the Umpire to get a slap on the wrist for missing the bleeding obvious! ::)

that only works if you have depth. With no depth there is no point dropping an umpire when you know the replacement just isn't up to the task. As RFC supporters, we should be able to understand that dilema.

If there isn't any depth at the top level, we're screwed!! ;)

I guess what I was tryin to say in this post is that if the umps let things go a bit more we'd all be less frustrated sitting in the stands.

If the GF is the benchmark for our great game, then the umpiring therein should be followed during the year!!!! ???

Incorrect.

The All Australian umpire, forgot his name, didn't get selected to umpire in the Grand Final because his umpiring in the Finals Series was "poor".

If it had of been the other way around, Ablett hitting Mitchell, he wouldnt get suspended. Garry Jnr can do pretty much whatever he wants without a free kick paid against him.

He was pushed by Ling, the MRP said it was circumstances beyond Mitchell's control and m=Mitchell actually took some evasive action.

maybe we could create a new position to utilize JON effectively: the business end of an 'IRISH WHIP' performed by tucky on the opposition player we most need to eliminate at the first centre bounce

It would have the added benefit of JON being able to argue successfully, at the tribunal ,that he had no awareness of the incident, backing it up by showing video evidence of his natural game
