These scores are taken from the first 8 weeks of the 2004 season and show how quickly Essendon turned around a terrible (and familiar looking) Round 1 scoreline :

Take special note of their respective opponents in Rounds 2 & 3 ... again very familiar.

Round 1.
Port Adel 2.6 7.13 15.16 23.20 (158)
Essendon 1.5 2.6 6.12 8.14 (62)

Round 2
St Kilda 3.5 5.10 7.15 13.16 (94)
Essendon 2.3 3.5 5.9 8.12 (60)

Round 3
Essendon 8.0 10.1 16.3 22.5 (137)
West Coast 3.0 7.5 15.8 20.11 (131)

Round 4
Essendon 1.3 5.8 13.11 17.15 (117)
Carlton 3.3 6.6 7.7 12.8 (80)

Round 5
Essendon 5.3 8.6 13.7 17.10 (112)
Collingwood 1.2 6.5 10.9 11.13 (79)

Round 6
Essendon 5.6 7.8 12.10 16.12 (108)
Sydney 4.3 4.6 8.7 15.8 (98)

Round 7
Essendon 5.2 10.6 15.7 18.13 (121)
W Bulldogs 3.2 7.5 11.9 14.11 (95)

Round 8
Essendon 7.4 10.9 14.11 20.15 (135)
Adelaide 2.4 5.6 7.12 12.12 (84)

So after sitting in 16th position with a percentage of 38 after Round 1, the Bombers were 6-2 less than two months later.

They had no better a playing list than we have now.

essendon have something a lot of sides dont a decent spine and they are continuall y adding to it with players like bradley  ryder and johns.a lot of people will laugh at the last but i saw plenty of him as a kid and just cant believe he wont make it. in 04 they had fb fletcher chb wellman centre johnson chf lucas ff lloyd they have plenty of big bodies to build a side around and imo sheeddy is on the right path.

Spot on again Clawsy my Dark master you ;)

PS  Digglers Ghost and Tigs 80  look like prospective Darkside/ Realist recruits just a bit more coaching and they will be on board i reckon  :hihi

our list is shizenhausen when even compared to that bombers list in 2004....

agree.

Wallace has a better chance of parting the red sea then getting us 6-2 after eight rounds.

Please note that Terry Wallace had us at 6-2.

Or should I say Terry Moses.

Mate we never did catch up for that beer up in QLD. I reckon that might have been around about the 2001 finals series when we got rogered by the Lions in the Prelim. Was it called 'Roar Power' then, or had it become PRE by that stage? Nevermind.

How is the old bastard BJ nowadays? Still rockin' out the tasty tunes with your good self? I had a little bit of time away from PRE for a while there, but unlike KB I feel like I've returned home to all the fun.

Keep up all those sensational posts. Priceless stuff.

bargain mate...i knew it was you...everytime long kicks were discussed...jumping JimmyJess was always in the mix........
Im in Vic now mate can ya believe it?Come back down as when I left vic we were still in finals and stuff...Im a believer in History repeating.....Pity about last fri nite but...a little bump on the road to glory....
Now for the bad news...me great mate Bomberjohn....Lost him in a car accident about 8 months ago......really put me out of bounds for a while ill tell ya for free...but at least bomber is getting a footy lesson of our beloved Jack Dyer........and dicky reynolds and Johnny Coleman would no doubt be tryin to stick up for him too.....but life goes on..........Great to see your posts again mate !Cheers! ;D

Geez mate, that's shocking news about BJ. I had no idea - he was a great bloke to swap footy sledges with ... way too good to be an Essendon supporter, that's for sure. I'm really shattered you lost your good buddy.

Anyway, it's good to see you saw the light and moved back down to Mexico with the rest of us no-hopers. I'm currently on tour O/S myself, but I reckon we might get around to chinking our pints together at the 'G for a Tigers game sometime in 2007.

Strewth, there's some new names popping up on this site nowadays. I bet half of 'em weren't even born when we won the Flag in 1920 !!

Sure waz a shock mate.....made me kick outta bounds on the full for a while....but Bomberjohn had lost the plot for a while....not disrespect to him...but got into some trouble........how-ever...... 500 people attended his funeral....and at the moment of the accident,he was listening to John Lee Hooker......so....he was kickin out hard when he left us.......But....Makes me footy a bit more personal nowadays as i did enjoy the gabba games and his banterCheers mate! :clap

Let me add that St. Kilda are returning to Melbourne from the west and teams that do that have a very poor record the following game.

We'll still get flogged though.

I'm still waiting for the Prowess stats to come up on the internet. >:(
