Now, don't get too carried away people. This was a very low standard, mistake riddled game and Brisbane are a shadow of their former selves – in fact they are hopeless and will cop alot of beltings this year. Let's not get deluded here and think that the core of this team will bring us consistent success in the near future. We still have a long way to go and if we want to have sustained success we need to change the way we play the game. Whenever we somehow manage to win it seems that it’s always a scrap. We need to learn to win with fluency, skill, smart play and precision and in order to do that we need the right players with the appropriate level of skill and footy smarts. At the moment we are no where near that level. People will say that it’s not fair to take credit away from the boys by saying that Brisbane were hopeless, but this is reality. Most other teams would have made mince meat out of both these teams with the amount of poor decision making and inadequate skills that were on display.
You are correct Harry, but you can only beat who you play and we can improve and hopefully build some confidence. First half was battle of the bums. Third quarter we played some OK to good footy, but Brisbane were terrible, didn't want the ball. Brisbanes' Last quarter reminded me of the Tiges during the mid-80s when we'd often mount a challenge in the last q that would then be snuffed out.
