AA team!

Oh god, not another sucked in by the black & white Clement hype. Has more goals kicked on him than any other "superstar" backman I've ever seen. Not AA class in my opinion.

sorry hopper would have thought the other way round, Joel has had a lot of goals kicked on him and gets a lot of cheap kicks in the backline. I think Clement provides as much run and has a far superior accountability to his side than Joel.

Clement rarely gets the best forward, this job goes to Presti and Wakelin. Bowden has had to man the best forwards virtually each week.

Great effort and weel deserved JB, worth his weight in gold.

Simmo very stiif, but I can see the case for Lad and Cox. Biggest clanger for me is no Farmer or Davey, you could debate which one, but one should have got in, full stop. Farmer for me. Bit of a joke that I reckon.

Cox in. Simmo out.

Cox only played 17 games because of his injury. I would have thought Simmo would be ahead of Cox as he played 21 games.

Can anyone please explain why we didn't take Bolton in the 03? pre season. We had the $ after just being turned down by M Lappin and had the call b/f Sydney.

Was it just that we were turned off because he preferred Sydney?

It's always interesting to see how a player's perceived ability is magically boosted by around 20% by virtue of playing in a top side - the AA team has 18 players from the top eight clubs and just 4 from the bottom eight. This is not to say that any of Simmonds, Chapman, Scarlett, Milburn, Bradshaw, L.Power, K.Cornes, Mitchell, Lucas, Whitnall or Scotland should definitely have got in, but if the ladder was reversed I'm sure the side would have a different look.

Simmo was ripped off!! >:( Cox got in on reputation alone.
Congrats Joel.
Farmer (although I despise the man) should have got in IMO.
Chapman was also stiff to miss.

yes he wanted to go to Sydney. Miller couldn't weave his alleged magic there.

Cameron Bruce's ommission is the big surprise for me.

Agree.  Cam Bruce had a super year playing in a variety of roles.  Has toughened up and no longer is the down hill skier that he once was.  He used to be the best player on the park when the Demons were in front and never could hold his own in a tough contest.  Not now. He is now capable of changing the flow of a game and standing up when it counts.

Carlton have a young Cameron Bruce in the making in young Jackson.

Would have Cox over Simmo any day.
Just wondering if all the talk about Simmo by Terry turned the voters off?

It isn't about who you want. It is, or should be about who was the better ruckman over the majority of games over the full season.
If one guy misses 5 weeks, plays 17 games and 8 are of those are very good. And the other guy plays 21 games and 15 games or very good.
Who is the better player over the course of the year?

didak, cox and mclead is *smile*.

didak doesn't deserve it
mcleod and cox got entry on reputation

Agree with Didak and McLeod.  Thought Cox has had a great season.

better than simmonds?

Simmonds is more damaging offensively, but as a pure ruckman around the ground I'd have to say Cox has been slightly better this year. Cox is 204cm and has averaged 18 possessions and 7 marks a game and can definitely ruck, averaging 21 taps, many quality. It's hard to understand how some think he has only been selected on reputation this year. Simmonds has had a great season and its great to know we have a ruckman who is in the top 3 in the league.

would definately have Davey in my pocket over Didak. Thought Ryan O'Keefe was a good selection - watch alot of the swans with a swan mate and he is very damaging week in week out. Feels good to have the AA CHB in yellow and Black - good onya Joel.

I actually find it quite funny that the CHB comes from the Tigers, as this is the one spot most agree we need to fix.

Joel might have got the nod for that possie, but we all know he is a lot better and more damaging when not playing on there best forward.

And the 1 or even 2 things we need is players who can play on the big, bulky tall forwards.

Well done J. Bowden, I for one find it a little amusing, and you being chosen sure won't change or ease my mind on the fact of how much we need KPP down in defence.

Below is a link comparing Didak's stats to Pettifer's

http://www.pro-stats.com.au/psw/web/compare_players?tid1=104&pid1=200127&tid2=112&pid2=200189

Pettifer has equal possessions, more kicks, long kicks, marks, contested marks, clearances, inside 50's rebound 50's and contested possesions. Seems Kayne is a better contested ball and clearance player than the AA ;D

In stats where Didak is in front he makes 3.2 tackles agame to Kayne's 2.2 and 1.8 goals a game to Kayne's 1.4 and he leads in handballs, first posessions, uncontested posessions and bounces and has marginally less errors and more 1% (2.6 to 1.6)

Good year for Didak but dont know about AA, Good year for Pettifer as well obviously - AA next year for "elite" Kayne?

The AA team looks pretty reasonable up forward and with key midfielders but defence looks a bit shaky to me.  Half back line not too scary for opponents, I reckon - (no offence to Joel).  Would not be hard to find an alternative AA side that could beat it (although finding key forwards a stretch perhaps)

what about

Kenelly      Cornes      Michael Johnson
