If Trump was president then this would not have happened. The far left obviously won't like that, nor would the woke c***s, but the fact remains. Trump would not have let this happen. Good luck arguing that, lefty c***s.

Trump's administration is the one which negotiated the withdrawal agreement.

I have no idea how you draw this conclusion given the facts.

Wow, so easy to argue this one!

I like how you posted this around the same time as you bumped the "Drunk Posts" thread... well played sir.

PS preferred the Tony Montana avatar, the coke vibe is more of a fit with your recent flurry of posts

The simple fact of the matter is this..

You do not EVER withdraw the military first and leave thousands of your own people left to fend for themselves in a hostile state....simple they (the military) are last out and you either take your gear with you or scuttle it.

This has a stink all over it, in much the same way as Benghazi was handed over to Terrorists by Obama AND Biden weirdly enough with US citizens, a small Embassy security force and Ambassadorial staff left behind to be murdered without any military rescue. Eerily similar.

The CCP cant wait to get their hands on the trillions of rare earth minerals under the ground in Afghanistan.

The US oligarchs were only interested in the easy Billions of $ to be made on Opium, and non stop warfare.

The bonus for the CCP is they not only likely get their mitts on the mineral wealth of Afghanistan or a huge chunk of it to help the Afghani's mine it and process it, but they've also got the bonus of new high end US Military hardware which can be reverse engineered and copied.

This is a disaster for the Crash Test Dummy in Chief.

The speed of the Taliban advance and takeover caught them all by surprise.

Would he have acted quicker though to put them back in?

No, Trump couldn't wait to get out.

Craig, I agree to some extent but the USA had to get out as they were simply not getting any real control of the country. They must have known the Taliban were just waiting and, being locals, they had nowhere else to go so they can wait for decades. Leaving without removing all your equipment, leaving without getting all the ambassadorial staff etc, is just stupid. Biden was left with a crap situation, but it was partly of his own making since he was VP under Obama.

MD, what can you say? If they were surprised by the speed of the Taliban advance then their intelligence was rubbish.

All in all it is a mess, but the mess was created by what was not done during the 20 year occupation.

Craig, my apologies, but most of this is (well-meaning) nonsense.

Withdrawing from Afghanistan was the right thing - they should have never been there in the first place.

They completely botched the execution. They ran and left the vulnerable behind.

Was this Trumps fault?

Nope, we can't put all the blame on Trump. We know he would have botched it, but equally we can see that Biden and the administration have screwed it up royally.

The Aussie government are quite happy to abandon people who worked with us in Afghanistan too - their lives will be at considerable risk, but seems we don't care.

The USA might be reasonable, not great mind you, at winning a war.

But they are completely rubbish at winning the peace, which is way more important unless you want to be involved in a war for well more than 2 decades.

The whole Afghanistan debacle goes back to a complete lack of any strategy beyond get Al Qaeda and depose the Taliban. Yeah, fine, but what next? Successive administrations have failed to even try to come to grips with how to answer this question. If you go back to before the Soviet invasion you see a country which was less fundamentalist and opening up to modernisation - the place has gone backwards for over 40 years. Not alone in that aspect either, you saw way less head coverings being worn by women in Malaysia in the 1970s, just as an example.

This is a mess, and it is a mess because no-one thought, or cared, about what happens after you depose the Taliban.
