AFL.com.au Gets A Makeover

I think it's just a matter of waiting Legends. I got those green swirly things too. I clicked on the page at 9.56 and it loaded at 10.06. That's 10 minutes to just open the main page. I can't be bothered trying to click on any other pages to see how long they take.

I still can't find the search function? Is there one there? Seems weird they wouldn't have one.

It opens quick enough on another, older computer. The only search function I could find was a 'sensis' icon in the top right corner. However, as per usual with things wrong with this site, I can't click on 'search'. Only an arrow cursor thingy stays on and can't press to open ???

mmmmm.....

Im a web designer amoungst other things and the look of it and design IS a little better but it is waaaaay too slow still, because it runs from a content driven backend and has a massive drain on it with all the people accessing it AS WELL as each clubs individual website also which you would assume is hosted on the same server, you wouldnt expect any better from a "telecommunications" company like bigpond/tel$tra could actually run a nice fast loading website would you now?

come on afl, how many $$$ are you making from TV rights every year? get your s__t together and put up a quality website that loads each page faster 30 seconds per page, where is all that money going? on Andrew's beach house? Very unprofessional for the biggest sport portal in the country supposedly!

AFL who??? :headscratch

Why do they even bother up dating, they are as useless as a meat pie with no sauce. :hihi :cutelaugh :hihi

The AFL has signed a $60 million, five-year deal with Telstra for the provision of online and mobile telephone coverage of the AFL competition.

it loads really quick for me,i`m impressed.
i might actually visit it from time to time now.

i can`t wait till they fix the richmond one.

I just get a header and a footer with a big expanse of blankness in-between. :-\

I guess I'm not missing much...

I get similar. Looks like the site got a going over, not a makeover. Still, I hardly ever go there, just PRE, Realfooty and the Hun's site.

I actually think it looks terrible, worse than last year
What's with that font?
It looks like a webpage from the start of the decade

Apparently it's something to do with Realplayer.

They gave the site a botox shot in a couple of spots to tighten it up, and a bit of airbrushing here and there, but it still remains ugly, old, and as dull as a super model.

Yeah the Times Roman font is ugly. Looks very old fashioned.
After using it for a short time I think the site is overall a minor improvement.

They'll probably charge or make us join Bigpond just to open the bloody thing now. Methinks they're finding more ways to charge, after all, its run by the AFL and Telstra. Wanna check the broadcast schedule? You can for a mere $15 per month. Want to access your club's site? No probs for a piffling $10 per month. Betcha there'll be less of the free access when the new product emerges.

Its slow, filled with useless flash applets and doesnt even contain recent statistics. The stats they do provide are pathetic.

From what I saw of her "performance", this sounds like Paris Hilton in her infamous private video :hihi
