This is a bit of a tricky situation. I understand the policy to keep the information private unless a player actually offends the third time and faces discipline but not being aware of that info could put a club in a potentially devastating situation.
They could trade a player in all innocence; being unaware he was already on strike 2, yet if he offended a third time they would be a player short. If it was a high profile player, thus commanding a big salary and forming a very important role toward the team's success, the costs could be massive.
Does anyone know if the AFL have any contingency plans for this type of scenario or is it just a case of tough luck if it happens?
Please note this is not about any individuals. As far as I'm aware no information in regard to drug offenders has been officially released by the AFL so we wouldn't know the facts in regard to any specific players.
I'm voting too hard basket. I don't know what the best solution would be.
