How predictable, vlad announced afl to cancel existing agreement with nth to play games on the Gold Coast after 3 games in 2008.
Guarenteed $400k per game for 10 games the afl faces a big payout to nth to compensate lost revenue under the agreement.
Bloody afl free and easy with money, but probably left with no choice as nths decision not to go, would result in poor attendances and support at these games.
Bet their cash from afl will dry up.
Reports from southport estimate 17th team is not realistic before 2010/2011
reckon eddie mchins proposal for collingbush may see some light of day

It will be interesting to see afl reaction to nths' announcement of vodaphone (up tp $2m over 2 years) sponsorship.

I know vodaphone were previously sponsors of st kilda, but I thought only existing sponsorships were allowed to protect afl sponsors, telstra as in this case.

Maybe nth may threaten restraint of trade, could open the proverbial can of worms or will vlad let it slide?
Wasn't that the reason Tiger Airlines were reported to be unable to sponsor us? quantas?
as well as other sponsorship proposals for different clubs afl wouldn't allow.

The sponsor protection rules of the AFL are very "flexibile" I think.

If the AFL can make this late change they can also adjust our centenary game against the Dees to a home game for us at the MCG. :beer
