7-Eleven has worked hard over the pre-season to find a new star for the Slurpee team; the AFL Sports Slurpee, in Berry Ice Flavour

All the taste of the famous Slurpee, charged with electrolytes for fast hydration of thirsty bodies.

This week, for your chance to win a “Week of Slurpees”, post your favourite memory from a Richmond game against Port Adelaide. The best post (as decided by PuntRoadEnd’s mods), will win!

7-Eleven’s AFL Sports Slurpee - “Proudly Supporting the Fans”

(“Week of Slurpees” is 5 x Free Slurpee Vouchers)

There will be a winner chosen each week for the next 4 weeks as we share memories of games against the opposition we're about to face.

Gee you've set a high bench mark early Livers. What a memory that is. :hearton

Its gotta be Richo's HUUUUUGE grab in his 200th game, the resulting goal put the Tigers in front.

Clinton Grybas' call as he marked it of "RICHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" capped off the moment.

Sorry B1 but the highlight was after he kicked that goal to put us in front. Richo was pumped and nearly flated about 4 Richmond players.

It'a a little more personal for me... Richo's 200th at the Dump.
Overweight, loudmouth Port fan behind us giving all and sundry a running commentary on the game, bagging us, praising them (you know the type), on his mobile during the breaks giving advice to the coaching staff ::). Left before the end of the game....gawn :hihi

The Geelong WIN at Skilled Stadium last year! First since 1990!
or
The awesome comeback against the hawks when we were 51pts down.. :clap

Sorry Bunnerz this week's competition is to discuss Port memories. Next week it will be Adelaide memories, the week after Essendon and the week after Brissie.

I was going to suggest a famous Richmond victory over in Adelaide against Port, but this has never happened.
If we win on Saturday, close the shop Rosy, that'll be the winner.

Richos screamer in the goalsquare last year. I think it may be on tigerTV it was so great. Still remember it like it was yesterday.

Other than the highlights mentioned my most memorable Port moment was when we drove over to watch them one time. Got abused as we parked at the ground, the car was pushed and we were told to get back to Victoria. I was wondering if they were like that outside the ground how feral would they be inside. Was really disappointed they were really friendly and welcoming.

It rained most of the game and I still remember a free not paid, to Brodder I think, in the last minute or so. A goal then would have won the game for us. We lost by a point or two.

Have we played Port at the G very often? The only time I can remember is when Duncan kicked that memorable first goal at the PuntRoadEnd.

My personal moment

One of my favourite memories that helped instill hatred into my children for Port was when their @#$%%^ dumbsquad behind the goals pulled out a coffin and were waiving around at the G. They beat us that night but my kids have never forgotten their anger towards & help cement their love for the Tigers. ( abit of convincing from might have helped 8))

The Richo mark & win that time also rates high because it hasn't been often that we have beaten them. :(

I think someone may have mentioned this - However my most memorable Port Moment is going to be Saturday Night when I finally get to watch My Team Belt out the song after a tough and determined display of OLD TIGER STYLE FOOTY.

Didn't we flog Port over there last year (or the year before), when Foley went nuts and got like 800 contested possessions? Or am I thinking of something else?

In fact I'll nominate that. My man P Bo played well, Kane Johnson kept S Burgoyne to three touches (while getting about 20 of his own) and some bugger called Nathan Brown kicked three goals, including a flukey little soccer one from a Shane Tuck cross...

I remember listening to it back at my parent's place in the country and posting here on PRE. Good times.

Re: AFL Sports Slurpee–Proudly Supporting the Fans–Favourite Memories Competition

Given that we've only played Port four times in Melbourne in their 11 seasons (2 since 1998), I can't think of a lot of highlights apart from those previously mentioned, as TV games don't stick in the memory anywhere near as vividly. On the Kellaway goal, he'd scored 0.7 until that point but became a veritable sharpshooter with 12.4 after that.

I suppose there was the game at Telstra Dome the day after Jack Dyer passed away, we put up a game effort but still went down, and there was only a small crowd of ~16K attending. It was quite an eerie atmosphere.

The other one that's stayed with me was played in Adelaide in driving rain. We'd kicked 1.7 in three quarters to be three goals down, Port put the shutters up in the last and though we had the ball in our half for about 90% of the time, we just couldn't find the winning goal and went down by a couple of points.

Statistically speaking, there was one game where Richo kicked 4.7 and we still won (the day Kellaway wrecked his knee), and another where Joel Bowden had 42 touches and we still got flogged.

They're quite a dull club, Port.

As it is memories, and not Highlights,

i will put down r15 i think in 2001, when the tigers were going pretty well. We went over there pretty confident. In the first 5min Brodders smashed peter burgoyne over the boundary line i think and got stuck into him.

We had most of the play in the first quarter, but unfortunately, our man matty richo hit the post from 10m out and then 5min later hit the left behind post from 25m out.

We unfortunately ended up losing, but thats what sticks in my mind about memories vs port

Duncan Kellaway getting his first goal! :clap

I hereby declare, with no personal bias, Liver's entry the winner of this week's competition.

Not many people have a t-shirt printed in their honour just for kicking a goal as Dunc did on this occasion. The joy of the moment was shared by opposition and Richmond supporters alike. It's one of those "I remember where I was when" moments when Dunc slotted it through at the PRE of the MCG.

Ok I admit to a slight bit of bias. if only we had some players who could get as much out of their natural ability as Dunc did. if only the entire 22 could run out with the same 100% committed attitude and willingness to put their body on the line.

Congratulations Livers. If you'd like some Slurpee vouchers please pm me your mailing details.
