After the Calton win did we expect too much?

Only an abo*smile*e fool would expect much on the back of beating genuine crap opposition in round 1

Then again thats about 80% of our supporter base

Muppets
Settle Miss Piggy

Each week I'm optimistic the Tiges will have a win.
After all these years I should have learnt NOT to expect too much.
That way when they don't deliver I won't be as let down!! >:(

I wasn't expecting much, but with a win first up I was hoping the team would have had a bit more confidence for the season and maybe push the Roos for a win. Ofcourse every season the Kangaroos give us a reality check. People aren't muppets, they just want the team to do well.

Well said.

No matter who we play come game day i get more optimistic. Thats what supporting a team is all about. If you are negative and think we will lose before the game starts then you arent a supporter, you like footy and richmond is the team that you happen to go for.

Maybe I think we realize that the Roos were a top 4 side last year & have played finals consistantly for a long time also I didn't think our structure was good even though alot don't think so we need Johnson in our midfield has a bigger body also need Cogs back in the side again bigger body also think Bowden could be used though the middle because of his smart football brain good ball usage & bigger body.

i don't know what u guys are complaining about. as a newly converted darksider, i will say a couple of positive things about sundays game...

i don't think the result was that bad. if u think about it, normally when a team get 6-7 goals up on us we usually go to water and it turns into 10+ goal loss. but we hung in there last week and 41 points was flattering for them. i also don't believe we gave away many goals from errors or turnovers under pressure...

Some expected far too much before the Carlton gmae let alone after it.

We have shown patches of reasonable football. And we have shown major patches of vintage 2007.

Are you people serious ! Did we expect too much?
The side that ran out on Sunday contained 1 new player, and that was a guy from the faltering doggies who came to us with a chip on his shoulder, it wasn't like we got a Chris Judd.

So knowing that and the fact that we finished bottom of the ladder with 98% of the playing staff that ran out on to the field on Sunday it was going to be an absolute long shot that we were going to win.

For us to have won on Sunday, every player on that field would have needed to improved their skill level by 20-30 percent and also obtained a football brain. Does that sound too harsh - well it's not because some of the decision making (ie kicking it to Richo who had 3 to 5 opponents to beat when there were other better options available) was atrocious. And their skill level is still very poor.

I'd never thought I say this but Wallace is turning into Frawley incarnated.

Frawley never brought on young talent, I remember when he forced Knights out of the club and in his press conference he said now is the time to try the youngsters. In the remaining 6-8 rounds he played not 1 new person but kept on rehashing the same tried and trusted, sorry, failed players and that is why Richmond never progressed under his reign. Now Wallace is doing the same!

So my point is, look at the team sheet, if it's virtually the same team as last year then don't be surprised if the result is the same as last year too!

Difference is we are actually drafting young talent now and waiting for it to mature. And just who should have been in the side anyway?

I expected to win.

I wanted to see how we would back up after a good win round one.

Stuffed that up!!

Unfortunately until they mentaly prepare themselves every week like they did for round one then we will continue to be poor.

After a terrible 07 we came out and won in round one and then failed to back it up in round two. They know how tough at it the scum bucket roo's are and they couldnt match it with them early.

For me, I am going to use this sundays clash with arch rival Collingwood as the test of wether we have mentaly and physicaly improved. Lets see if all the police style training has had any effect, because after last weeks game it didnt look like it.
