I think so! Before the blues win, a lot of people were saying we were favourites for the spoon, or bottom 4 at best. After one good win against a bottom team from last year, we took on a team that was top 4 last year and had just come off an embarrassing defeat. They were always going to come out hard against us.
They came out much harder than us, we were beaten in a number of areas, on the day it was their intensity to play hard football for 100 mins that was the difference.
This season imo there are 2 outstanding teams Geelong and Hawthorn. Next tier down is Saints,Crows,North ,swans and Bulldogs, and with Melbourne obviously on the bottom.Imo 8-15 is a complete lottery.
Got a feeling we will get around 6-10 wins, which will be enough to keep Wallace's Wolves at bay.
He should have the chance over the next 2 years to relax and develop the kids into a good team. Over the next few weeks we will see a few more of ''generation next'' played, hopefully Jack and Morton and possibley white come into the team this week.
Under the blow torch from North a few of the tiger players didn't stand up at all. I reckon Wallace was annoyed at this as well, so the selection table could be interesting this week. I've always loved Joel as a footballer, but he was ordinary under pressure, as was Petts,Browny,Hyde and Rainsy before he was injured.
Rainsy didn't pick a good time to get injured, have my doubts when Connars comes back in whether have a place in the team.
Hydey is a goer, but unfortunately is not up to afl level.
Petts didn't pick a good time to have little impact, with Jack and Morts staring in the two's.
I think once the season was obviciously over last year Wallace gave all the kids a game for the future. This year i think he is deadly serious about how high we finish(his job may depend on it) so anyone who squibs it will be playing 2's and pensioned off at the end of year
