Age shall not weary them?

They could of done both.

Blind freddy could of seen they had a golden opportunity to rebuild by trading players after the 2004 season. There was no way they would win another flag with that ageing list. They had older players with value (inflated by being premiership players) that they could of swapped for high draft picks. (MUCH LIKE WE SHOULD)

They hung on a year too long and they will pay the price. If they were smart they could of done this and came out looking like geniuses. They are brilliant at spotting talent its a shame (for them) the club didnt give them higher and more draft picks to take advantage of this talent.

Hindsight is always 20:20, even for blind Freddy. Three flags in a row means I will cut them some slack for hanging on a year too long.

Heck his team just played in 4 successive grand finals and won 3 in a row!!!

A terrible error by the Lions - trading short term on the field competitiveness and winning those flags instead of what is really important.. getting those early draft picks.  Silly silly silly old lions.

And those early Richmond draft picks have been instrumental in our on field success of late.  We have had the best draft picks of the last 20 years and still can't pick a horse from a donkey.
