Just when you thought the AFL got it's act together, the finals draw comes out. As I understand it, the new agreement with the MCC is the same as the previous with the exception being that there is no guarantee of a preliminary final being played if 2 non-Vic teams earn the right to a home final. Other than that, they are guaranteed so many finals over a 3 year period, being allowed to bank some up. (Correct me if I'm mistaken please).
Now, this week the finals draw being announced and 2 finals played in Melbourne. What do the AFL do? They play 1 at the dump, with the 'G being empty on Sunday. Now, to me, the non-Vic teams look like they are going to be dominant for a few years to come, keeping in mind Freo and Brisbane just missed out as well. Why haven't the AFL decided to started banking the games NOW instead of next year or the year after. What happens when the non-Vic teams earn a home final down the track but because the afl still have to play so many finals at the 'G to catch up to their quota, they can't? Or do we (Richmond) get screwed again by being forced to play at the dump, so the afl can force (blackmail) the MCC to change their agreement again? Here was the perfect opportunity to build up quota finals at the 'G but as usual, the afl haved stuffed up again IMO!!

cant understand how they can play finals at the Telstra Dump, let alone home and away games there.

Its only the AFL and Collins that believe there is nothing wrong with the playing surface at the dump. Its only a matter of time before a player sues the AFL and Testra Dump for playing at an unsafe place and getting injured.

Whilst were asking questions about the G and the Dump.

Why is it that teams such as the Bummers, Carlscum, Doggies and Sinners play games at the G.
Whilst the teams that have the G as their supposed HOME- Tigers, Demons, Kangas , Dawks and Maggots play home games at the Dump?
Absolutely ridiculous to see the Bummers and Carlscum play at the G whilst we played the Dawks at the Dump in round 21. ???

my thoughts exactly.
richmonds HOME games should be at HOME...and we are the boys from the MCG! :clap

Actually one thing Mr.Demetriou HAS done this year is a little team called SYDNEY...remember he was bagging them?

I also have to laugh, Geelong earnt the right to a home final against the Demons. Where is it being played but the home of the Demons the "G", they must think all their christmases have come at once. I would hate to see the Tigers get a home final only to find we are playing somewhere different altogether. Then whats new with these *smile* for brains that run the AFL.

In a good way... its great for NORTH that they play THE PAP at the dump... PAP have been well beaten there this year (even by us).

In a bad way... it just gives NORTH and THE PAP one more opportunity to play at that shocking venue, cr@p surface... and maybe do a few more knees or soft tissue injuries... just what aspiring premiership players want, DREAMS GONE.

Collins has that 'covered' ... extremely well.

you've got to look outside the square.
It would be ridiculous to play the Kangas - Power game at the 'G' with only 30,000 max supporters turning up for a finals game

Well let's not forget the huge crowds that attended the likes of Carlton v. Fremantle and Carlton v. Port Adelaide at the MCG during the home and away season.

The AFL is still playing political games even after this supposed amicable solution.
