PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Just when you thought the AFL got it's act together, the finals draw comes out. As I understand it, the new agreement with the MCC is the same as the previous with the exception being that there is no guarantee of a preliminary final being played if 2 non-Vic teams earn the right to a home final. Other than that, they are guaranteed so many finals over a 3 year period, being allowed to bank some up. (Correct me if I'm mistaken please).
Now, this week the finals draw being announced and 2 finals played in Melbourne. What do the AFL do? They play 1 at the dump, with the 'G being empty on Sunday. Now, to me, the non-Vic teams look like they are going to be dominant for a few years to come, keeping in mind Freo and Brisbane just missed out as well. Why haven't the AFL decided to started banking the games NOW instead of next year or the year after. What happens when the non-Vic teams earn a home final down the track but because the afl still have to play so many finals at the 'G to catch up to their quota, they can't? Or do we (Richmond) get screwed again by being forced to play at the dump, so the afl can force (blackmail) the MCC to change their agreement again? Here was the perfect opportunity to build up quota finals at the 'G but as usual, the afl haved stuffed up again IMO!!
