Few fluffed kicks today but...

27 disposals, 12 marks and only allowed Sam Reid to 5 touches and 1 mark. One of the biggest spankings you'll see.

Fair dinkum Sam Reid has been overrated. Only a month ago the football world was labelling him a star.
Agree....

Love this guy. When the ball is there to be won he wins it almost every time. And he's very strong body on body. This whole backline has come on in leaps and bounds.

First to admit I wanted to punt Rancealot when he was a spud and looked like a work experience kid at a nuclear physics plant.

His improvement last year was awesome and now I love watching him play. Nice bloke too.
Lone live Sir Rancealot

Gawd. i dont think his kicking is quite the worry that others think. He had 2 goal assists from the back line today. [That's not a stat by the way, its just my memory]. 2 passes there that were spot on. if his terrible diposal results in goals, then keep shanking 'em, i say .

Sam Reid is a star. He just got eclipsed by a bigger one today.

Too many shanks and turnovers which I was hoping was behind him....took Reid to the cleaners though.

Could only recall his out on the full kick? Was at the game and honestly besides that I didn't notice any other turnovers.

The one thing I love about our backs, especially Grimes and Rance, is that once they beat there man, they run forward and provide an option on the way out.

Yes, the out on the full was the only mis-kick I recall (as opposed to kicks to contests that we lost), and that was more due to an attempt to kick to advantage of a player leading close to the boundary line.

I think the occasional disposal error is more than outweighed by his ability to run and provide options up the field. With his balance and speed I reckon he could play on smaller forwards as well, he's a massive improver with more to come.

Stats show 6 ineffective disposals....few of those were under the pump though.

Don't get me wrong....I thought he played a very good game,
I watched the reply and he was a lot better than I thought he was when I was live at the ground.

Amazed that so many fans and so called media experts keep bagging the Tross for his supposed poor decision making and disposal.
Constantly takes the game on with run and create footy that opens sides up. Gets near as much footy as quality mids and is under just as much if not more pressure than mids where a mistake doesn't often hurt too much.
He's come on magnificently the last year and a bit, every player. Yep! Even the champions make mistakes and stuff things up at times, yet people seem to be desperate to focus on the few negatives and ignore the positives.

We're building a very handy backline and Rancey's a huge key to it.

Here hear. A lot of journos and explayers are under researched and just plagiarize others opinions

Agree, Billy Brownless laid into him for the entire match and was crowing about his out of bounds on the full (just to prove a point). It really peeves me off when commentators ignore what's happening on the ground and resort to repetitive drivel about a player's supposed weakenesses.

lol. Brownless spent his career hiding behind Gary Ablett Sr and still dines out on one kick after the siren.

If he were to line up against Rance in his time he would pull a hammy before the first bounce.

Huge beatup regarding Rance's disposal. Has consistently beaten the best forwards in the league this year and created drive from the back half.

Best part is he is not intimidated by anyone and not afraid to get physical when required.

With Rance, Grimes, Morris, and Batchelor we are building an uncompromising backline Dimma will be proud of for years to come.

ineffective disposal is very misleading stat i believe. for example, when a player kicks down the line to a contest from the defensive 50, and the ball spills to the front off the marking contest and the opposition gets posession of the ball, then it's put down as ineffective when it's the right play.

He is playing well and deserves his spot in the side but he's still making silly errors. For me he should never be allowed to kick out from full back.
