All 8 games on free to air next year!!!

All the games are going to be shown FTA, okay, but will they be live or are half of them going to be 'delayed' telecasts or extended highlights packages billed as replays ala CH 9's 2nd Sunday arvo game?

Sir said:
To watch footy on commercial TV (eg 7 and 10) is akin to losing half the game.

After living with Foxtel for the last 4-5yrs this decision almost brings a tear to my eye!

No ad breaks. Watch the replay of the mark, the kick, the tackle - rather than sit through countless car/beer/McDonalds ads!

If you miss it live, then watch the replay later that night.

Yep it's good to have had the choice and will be hard to watch footy on commercial tv after having the ad free FoxFooty.  Like Carn I question how many games will be live and if the entire 8 games will be shown in full on commercial telly.  That's a lot to cram into weekends and I suspect would cause a bit of an uproar to those with no interest in footy.  Will they have different games on each channel at the same time?

So many questions and so few answers. I live in hope footy is on paytv next season.

Lets hope common sense prevails.
Editing FTA games onto a disc will be nightmare :nailbiting :nailbiting :nailbiting.

Demetriou still had his 'state of the nation' address yesterday. He was bignoting about all the mechanisms that the Afl has set up for the clubs and players including a superannuation pool. Hey, Andrew how about the paying public now, What have you done for them?

Dear Mr Foxtel

Please come and collect your totally useless peice of crap

Sincerely

Michael

When I was in Sydney a couple of years back, I lived in a place that wasn't connected to Foxtel.  Being a townhouse complex, it required the body corp to pay 5k to get the connection plus what each household had to pay.  There was no way they would do it.

The end result, I couldn't watch any decent live footy except for the odd game on 9 when it didn't clash with the League.

With a foxtel uptake rate of about 20% of the households, I think going FTA only will give more Australians access to the games.
