Richmond Rookie Club Update, March 20 2006
Dear rosy
I trust you have enjoyed the first two editions of the Rookie Club News. I’m sure you will agree with me that Angus is an interesting character. I only hope that he can play footy as well as he can talk.
Please find following some information and new ideas:
Player Contract Update
You may have read in The Age that we have resigned Jay Schulz for 2007 and 2008. We hope to have resigned three or four others before the first bounce of the ball for season 2006. Who are they? I can’t tell you specifically but they are players whose contracts are due to expire at the conclusion of this season and we believe to be vital for our long term success.
With a new TPP percentage increase about to be negotiated and in an environment of increased Television rights, you can imagine that player managers are a little cautious of finalizing deals beyond this year. What seems to be the current norm is to negotiate a figure for 2007 and beyond with a protection for the player if the TPP does rise dramatically.
Rookie Club Member Figures
We currently have 180 members who contributed $18, 000 (including additional donations) and I thank you all for this.
However, we need to reach a grand total of $30, 000 and I have exhausted ideas from amongst the coteries and website. Therefore I am now going to be approaching other Richmond Football Club members asap to help make up the balance.
Added Attraction Exclusive to Rookie Club Members
The Draft Information Night held last year on the Tuesday prior to the National Draft was a successful and enjoyable event.
Last year we charged a fee of $65 per person to attend this function (this included a few sandwiches, beer etc). Attendees were also treated to an indepth analysis of the forthcoming National Draft.
This year's event will be exclusive to Rookie Club members and free of charge.
Rookie Club Website & Tipping Contest
Hayden Hill, our resident IT guru, has the Rookie Club Website near competition. The main feature of the Rookie Club website will be the Online Footy Tipping Competition.
We have decided that since all participants are Richmond supporters, you will have to decide the winner of the 7 other home and away games.
Hayden has made the deadline for tips to be submitted as 1 hour prior to the kick off of the first match of each round. If you don’t submit your tips by this deadline, it defaults to the 7 away teams for that round, so make sure you are organized!
You shall receive an automated email early next week with details on how to log on to the Rookie Club Website, where you can sign up to join the footy tipping competition.
