Whilst reading the Age today Leysy almost choked on his Chicken Sandwich.

It mentioned the panel as being - Demetriou (chairman), Adrian Anderson, Rod Austin, Kevin Bartlett, Mark Bickley, Gerard Healy, Chris Mainwaring and Robert Walls.

Now can anyone explain to leysy how the *smile* do Demetriou & especially that arse kissing little lawyer germ Anderson have any say whatsoever on this team.

There are thousands of knowledgable football people that have a modicum of football nouse at the highest level that should get this gig before him.

Unbelievable.

Leysy, I usually nod approvingly to your posts. But this time we'll have to agree to disagree. It's these guys JOB to monitor football at the highest level. If they can't contribute here, I dunno who would. I share your annoyance at Anderson but I think the person in his job should certainly be abreast of who's putting on the best show. I reckon there's plenty of footy background on that list. Let's face it, if they make a stupid selection the AFL get the blame - they might as well have put their names to it.

They spend too much time monitoring off field aspects of the game. The people that should select the all australian team is..... the coaches. Each coach selects players not from their team to play in a position, some1 tallies the votes and thats the team

I'm a little surprised as well.

I would have thought Leysy was an avocado and watercress sandwich kinda guy.

They said last night only 8 teams bothered to nominate players, although one was honest enough to say none f their players deserved it. It wasn't Richmond BTW.

hmmmm..... ;D

Seriously though I think Foley and Polak deserve t have their names put up, but they would not survive the cull

Agree with Leysy's view totally.

It's a question of football credibility and Anderson doesn't have any, even AD played over 100 VFL games. Quite apart from the sheiβen job AA is doing in running the game, he shouldn't be voting. It'd be no different if Gary March had a vote in our b&f.

Anderson should fix the mess he's made with the tribunal points system before buggering anything else up.

When I first read the heading of this post I thought it said All-Anus Committee. I did a double take over my vegemite sandwich I can tell you! However i have heard Demetriou signs off on absoulutely everything at the AFL even down to the type of dunny paper they use. The word meglomaniac comes to mind.

Fair comment Tiger74....

It's like Anderson gets to be on the committee as a perk.

Has anybody else noticed that with the exception of KB and Bickley, all the other selectors were contact averse as footballers?

FWIW I reckon Bowden would be an excellent chance of making the final 22. Beats his opponent pretty much every week. Gets a stack of pill. Use pretty good. Previous AA- it's no flash in the pan.
