Cant understand why Harley is in the side when obviously they can swing players around just to get them in the side.
I would have left out Harley.Put Pavlich down back and Sam Mitchell or a tagger in Kirk on the bench.
Congrats to the Big Lug.His last half a dozen games probally cost him a place in the first 18.

I think Pav was the lucky selection and he never played in the backline this year to be considered their.
Have no real problems with the team thought Selwood was unlucky but think Sandilands and Richo beat him for the midfield spot on the bench, if Richo was considered a forward would have had Selwood in instead of Pavlich.

If the selectors were fair dinkum & picked guy's who played well ALL season,Cooney wouldn't have got a gig.His first half of the season was outstanding. His second half.......ordinary!! ::)

Weather Pav was lucky or not is not what i was getting at.You say Pav didnt play in the backline this year.True.But did Cooney play on the wing?Did Harvey play in the fwd pocket?[Starting 18].

I agree - but don't worry too much about it - at the end of your caeer they say you were 3 times all australian - they don't say what position you were selected in
spot on mate.

well done to richo on his third all australian, super effort at that age :clap

No Cameron Ling? No Brett Kirk?

Clearly it doesn't matter how many high profile midfielders you flog, 5th choice midfielders like J.Bartel are going to get selected ahead of you.

Harvey and Cooney at least spent time on wing and half forward

Can't believe people are bagging Bartel's selection - he is a gun. That comment about Kirk destroying him?? Your kidding right? Why should a tagger get selected? Give me a ball player any day.

Harley - he is a star, had a great year and Pavlich easily deserves his spot.

Doesn't matter who they selected, be plenty of whingers about it. The most unlucky I see is Hille v Sandilands.

5th choice?? Bartel should run close to winning the Brownlow again this year. Certainly closer than Corey or Ling.

I reckon they got it right this year.
If I had to make one change it would be J.Brown for Pav.

Hille played only half a good season.
Richo tapered off.
Cooney deserves his spot. Will finish top ten in the Brownlow.
Medhurst has turned his career around. Freo must be grumpy (again)
And Judd? He's the best player I've ever seen. Gun.

He would have to be up there.

Best I have seen - Ian Stewart - Tripple Brownlow Medalist with simply brilliant disposal - and being the champion he was the ball would always seem to follow him but in truth he would always read the play and put himself in the right spot. Great at getting the hard ball too. Saw him in the Centre win the '73 Grand Final for Richmond on one leg - he was that knackered running on one leg Haffey shifted him to the forward flank in the last quarter and he still manufactured goals for us - from memory kicked one or two too.

It was often argued back then that the best CHF ever was a toss up between Baldock and Hart - there was only a struck match between 'em - and guess who played Centre to both of them - Ian Stewart........

Agree on Stewy. He's in my top 5. His efforts in the 73 Premiership were inspirational. I also remember a story on Stewy being dragged during his St Kilda days for kicking with his opposite foot. According to Alan Jeans "no-one show ponies in my team".

BTW, my top 5.
. Carey
. Judd
. Whitten
. Stewart
. Hird

And before people jump up and down, I'm a big fan of Lethal or Ablett Snr. But top 10, not top 5.
And Royce would be at 6.
