Am I accepting mediocrity or looking at a bigger picture?

Think back to the 95 prelim against the cats.
We were a hard working team of scrubbers that won some close ones durimg the year and got smacked by the better teams.
We were going places till the cats turned us inside out and the sh!t hit the fan afterwards.
This year we again won a few close ones and got smacked by some of the better teams, I shudder to think what would have happened if we snuck into eigth spot.
We improved from 4 wins to 10 and that was my best expectation for the year so I guess that means that I will accept reality/mediocrity for the moment.
As the playing list develops so we raise the bar of expectation.
For 2006 I don't expect more wins, we may even go backwards a bit. I do however expect our team to be able to play a bit more accountable footy and stop the blowout games from occuring.
More than anything else I expect a bunch of the young fringe players to start stepping up and consolidating their positions in the side at the expense of more senior players so that we can launch into a series of finals from 007 onwards.
A bunch of young tiger guns licenced to thrill.

Yep same number of wins and 10pc better perecentage would be a satisfactoryr esult next year.

Ok Richo ill concede - but i think he might be too frustrating and inconsistent for some coaches
Bowden - not so sure - yes AA but not by all judges, still gets loose possesions on the HBF and would not put him in the gun category yet - still makes far too many skill & decision errors

Rubbish... plays tight and is a great rebounding backman... best stats in the league from memory. How he did not make AA is a mystery.

He did make AA didn't he?

Maybe he did... <checks> yes he did actually. Mystery solved.

If in 2005 we gave our kids a taste of finals footy - they will want more and more now. By missing the finals we did not give them that taste.

Most greyhound followers will tell you a dog that has had a kill will chase better than a dog that hasn't - its all in the taste.......
