PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

An interesting thought occurred to me.

The Tigers of 2005 showed us plenty durign the course of the season, I took many highlights from the season, the form of Tuck, Browny before the broken leg, the emergence of Lids, TW and the crew, and what seemed like a changed attitude as we seemed to play games out a lot better this season.

Now, I was asked if I was disappointed that we missed the finals. Of course the heart says yes, but the head says to me that I am glad that we didnt.

An opinion that I pose, but I wonder if had we made the finals - where we would have eben making up the numbers to an extent - would that have had a negative mental impact on some of our younger players? Would the game have seemed a little too easy, which may have altered their mental toughness and attitude going forwards?

Perhaps it can be argued that it is better for our longer term that we didnt make the finals this year, as these players from their disappointments will emerge in 2006 as stronger, fitter, faster and mentally tougher?
