Ambulance debacle

OK i will be the voice of reason and set this all straight for everyone.

Top post Craig - a good read too!

My sympathies to Chris - Brownie has shown that recovery is hard work but very possible.

Just out of interest, if they had of had 2 ambulances sitting at the ground instead of 1, would that have taken another ambulance out of the general system?

Given we already have people dyging whilst waiting for ambulances to turn up ... I'd personally be disgusted if they wasted TWO at a time sitting outside sporting events.

There were 4 million other people in this city yesterday, not at the G, all who had equal rights to an ambulance if needed. How would anyone here feel if they knew 2 ambulances were sitting outside the G at a Collingwood V Carlton game and their partner or children died whilst waiting for an ambulance?

I agree, Newmie's should have been allowed to leave for the hospital immediately, but I cannot support the calls for more than 1 at a time to be idleing outside the ground.

i agree

Thanks to craig for setting the record straight. :clap

Its nice to help out with certain issues at times, and feel like one is assisting fellow PRe'rs with insight to issues that many do not have knowledge of. ;)

Cheers

The issue is how long was he waiting? Nobody has said. The policy seems sound to me, as someone who has had a break as bad as Brown/ Newmans, even though the pain was pretty bad, I could have hung around for a while on pethedine, and did actually. Especially knowing that to hare off potentially leaves a dangerous situation. As craig said, would'nt have been fun, (and I know it isn't) but would have been competently handled.

The league can't be expected to have multiple ambulances on permenant standby for remote possibilities.

With their millions in TV Rights money, we don't they sponsor/pay for 16 ambulances ? On match days, 2 can stay at the grounds. During the rest of the time they can be used as part of the general fleet of ambulances. That'll provide adequate ground coverage and give something else back to the community.

63000 people at the G and Newmo in the back of a billie cart waiting for a back up to arrive.
Dumb question but what would have happened if some poor bastard in the crowd had a cark it attack on the old ticker?
Would they share the cab at half fare each to the hospital or would they have made Newmo walk?
At this level of competition and with the crowd sizes attending games there needs to be a little bit more professionalism on display. It's bloody 2006 not the flamin dark ages.

I thought the AFL was supposed to be pretty professional nowadays ? At least that's what I was told today ?

so if one ambulance can't leave until another one arrives...

then it's exactly the same situation as if there was no ambulance there at all, and the injured player has to wait for one to arrive.

Madness >:( :help
