Of course GM is going to sit down at the negotiating table during the trade period and say "Well, this is the thing fellas, we've got nothing....NOTHING!"

We've got plenty if we want to put the club before the players.

Richardson
Gaspar
Bowden
Johnno
Brown
Simmonds
Tivvers
hall
knoble
P. bowen
tuck
pettifer
coughlan
Hyde
krak'r
newman
Moore

Roach
Rodan
Humm
Kellaway

Totally correct. One could validly argue a case for each and everyone of those players to be traded. Unfortunately the lure of playing finals next year (albeit to be thrashed and bundled out in the first round) is probably too strong. The rebuild (which is still far from complete) should be to assemble the best and most talented young list possible, not to play finals as soon as possible (which is what keeping the bulk of the players above would be about). Fix the list first and the finals will eventually take care of itself (and when we get there we wont just be making up the numbers).

just goes to show miller has no idea where our list is at.

Just goes to show some people have no idea what trade week is about. Fortunately, Miller does.
yeah and thank god for miller, 5yrs in charge of recruiting and our list still has more holes in it than a sieve unfortunately.

I’ve been thinking about this quote, our ruckman is almost all-Australian and has decent hit out stats and yet we came 16th in clearances.

So who the hell fault is it that we can’t win a clearance?

I think the missing words are “we have an abundance of mediocre inside midfielders”

Hah hah hah...."we have an abundance of inside mid-fielders" eh ?

I agree with others. What he must have meant to say is: "We have an abundance of mediocre inside mid-fielders."

Our on-ball brigade and the lack of tough, nasty, yet well skilled players in this area has been a weakness of Richmond's for 20+ years !

Get real Miller !

We do have an abundance of inside mids. But Cogs is injured, Foley is 2 years off being a gun, Suga is nearing the end, Tucky is - well he's just Tucky, Whitey is a possible, Krak is slowly improving, Polo needs muscle, so you get my drift. Either we give it time or we start again.

You said it yourself: one is injured...another is 2 years off...Suga is nearing the end.....Tuck is just Tuck......Polo needs muscle and is but 2 years into a career and yet to prove he will be a consistent option. As for Krakouer, well that's just laughable to even suggest he's a quality inside midfielder.

Point proven. We have a mediocre inside mid field brigade.

One of the more farcical statements I've heard.I'm still waiting for the 1st.Maybe Cogs just qualifies pre OP.

Agree. Cogs was good pre OP. Tuck is ok, but that's about it.

Foley maybe...in time....but all these 'ifs and buts' proves we've got an ordinary inside on-ball brigade at the moment.

When you think about it we havnt had a real quality inside guy since the Flea.Freezer was pretty good but it was fleeting.

Along with having no decent CHB since the Ghost, little wonder we've done it tough for 2 decades.

SHeedy and Ess are losers, I cant believe they wan ta first rnd for Soloman????????????
WHAT A *smile* JOKE!!!!! He's probably worth a younger player on the outer with potential or a 3rd roiunder at best Id say!!! Useless not really a position for him anymore either!!!

and so does your incesssant rhetoric........surely your agenda is there for all to see.  The state of our list was chronic when gm arrived.....and despite all the pros and cons that can be levied at him over the last 5 yrs we now have genuine reason to be optimistic about the future of the RFC.....a future that involves a sustained period of success and just maybe with a bit of luck that ever elusive flag.

I will say one thing though....the prospect of downgrading 8 (and risk missing out on an outstanding inside mid talent such as young Selwood) makes me very, very nervous.

Who would we want at 13...Proud....Benjamin....?

It's interesting that we mock Millers comments.

Yet we are also saying that we have mediocre inside midfielders, wouldn't you try to create interest in this type of player so that you could potentially improve your list.

You would be crazy not to talk up the players/area in which you want to trade.

Wether anyone buys it is another story but hey Miller has to try hey! :)

Its like people keep saying Tiger Hart just as well some of the posters on this forum aren't recruitment managers!

You are making the assumption that 'we' all want another inside mid-fielder with our first pick. One of the holes that Claw was alluding to is the lack of anything that approaches a quality young KPP on our list. This has been no accident, by design Wallace has overwhelmingly gone for running players with our highest draft picks (he either doesn't really rate them or hasn't the patience to wait for them to mature) Picking up a Selwood would simply compound this. No one can deny the list is more talented, but serious questions exist about team balance, and if that means anything any more, we're still a long way off from winning a premiership. Personally I won't lose any sleep at all if we don't pick up Selwood.
