my positive from last night is that performances like this force the club to confront the horrible truth of their inadequate playing list, forged over the years by what can only be described as the worst recruiting in the competition.
like Ben Cousins, an individual or organisation can only start on the road to recovery when they admit they have a problem.
far from being "locked and loaded" and ready to launch the club into a sustained period of finals football, as per Terry and other club officials confident statements, we are of course the exact opposite.
whilst we are better than last night and will win some games this year, it's all immaterial if you are not on an upward path.
brown, simmonds, bowden, johnson will all be retired by year end if not sooner, and richo cannot go on forever.
that's a core quarter of Terry's best supposed side.
as we get into the season and it becomes clear that the competition continues to move past richmond, then the delusions of grandeur can be dispensed with and the true planning for the future can begin.
it starts with throwing the kids in at the deep end and sadly also means a rout of the list and a long rebuild.
that carries risk as the tigers brains trust are still to fully appreciate the emphasis on skill that the modern game demands, by foot in particular, so as in the past a rebuild is not guaranteed to brings the desired rewards at draft time.
but we might as well get started.

I agree with most of the post. The only thing I will say is that there is something to work with re the list, however so do 15 other clubs hence the reason the sooner we start in a differenet directon the better. Lets be honest the recruiting of the 15 other clubs may well see them streak past us?

Just think back to how costly it is that we get 2 first round picks for Ottens, one is now at Port and the other cant even get a game. That sort of recruiting basically destroys a club

One more thing the excuse for Wallace to Blame Frawley really ran out 18 months -24 months into Wallace's contract. He has had AMPLE time to stamp his authority gameplan vision ect on the club so the mere fact he attempts ot shift blame now shows he is desperate clutching at straws and finished

addressing this (or more to the point inadequate performances) publicly is long overdue. I agree with the getting it out in the open. Would not have had a problem if Terry singled out Lids' performance. Lid's is obviously better than that but it sends a powerful message to the players. A sacrificial lamb approach can be quite powerful in the playing group.

Try something Terry, stop just being a good assistant coach and look at what the greats tried. We may not have a GF list, but let's see what we can get out of this list. FFS that press conference was wishy washy. "That puts us squarely in the spotlight". Such passion.
