An invitation to watch the rookie aspirants at Punt Road

I just popped in for 30 minutes in the first session on my way past, with my wife and 3 year old in tow.

I couldn't tell any of the lads apart. They were going through training drills and seemed a little nervous, with lots of clangers and dropped marks. Quite a few of the RFC hierarchy were there, and those that I recognised were: Greg Miller and Frank, Wallace, David Weadon and David King. There were about 80-100 people watching and I reckon most were parents watching their lads go through their paces.

Interestingly, I parked my car right next to a North Melbourne scout/spy. I could tell because the rear window was covered in Kangaroo stickers :scold. Didn't spot anyone from Tuesday night there either, oh well.

Nah, they need all the help they can get. I should know 'cos I live in North Melbourne!!! You should see what they have to put up with at their Arden St location. Their HQ and training facilities are horrendous so it's amazing what they can do on the field. And I'm still pissed off the AFL changed the name of my suburb to "kangaroos". It makes me laugh that when Norf win a televised match, the song they sing has
Code:
So join in the chorus and sing it one and all,
Join in the chorus, North Melbourne's on the ball.
Good old North Melbourne, they're champions you'll agree,
North Melbourne is the team that plays to win for you and me.
No sign of a kangaroo there :cutelaugh

Oh, I forgot to mention that one unlucky lad slipped on the cricket pitch area and looked to do a groin. I really felt sorry for him 'cos I know that they were all trying to impress.
