Got your mind on Tarrant?

I'd say Scarlett, Fletcher, Lake, etc would love to differ with you.

Well none of those guys have ever played forward. Do you think those guys would be better or worse players if they had spent their careers up forward?

I deliberately named defenders who had never gone forward to highlight my point they are not just "failed forwards".

As far as your question I am not sure jb, but I believe there is such a thing as a natural defender and I am a big believer in a strong defence being integral to a strong offence.

I don't see defenders as lesser players, I have a high appreciation for the good ones and my only point was they should be recognised along with the easy/sexy options (ie high possession getting midfielders, forwards who kick bags etc)

To a lesser degree rucks are in a similar boat, but not as bad. Defenders get the short end of the stick in my view and I find it dissapointing.

;D Go on, admit it - you know those players would have had far less impressive careers playing up forward. Not saying you don't need quality defenders but the reality is the best players play up forward (or on the ball.)

Often the only people who defend defenders are defenders themselves.

I must be feeling ill, I half see your point. ;D

Still don't think I agree...but you've got me thinking...
