Agree Red, sometimes the young fellas do try to make every passage of play their own personal highlight reel but is refreshing to see Richmond youngsters not only having the belief in them selves to take em on but having the confidence in the coaching staff that they will not be hung out ot dry if things go wrong from time to time.

Spud used to crucify the kids, give them 3 minutes before a quarter ends, take them after they did something good, it was just about impossible for the kids to develop.  Don't think Raines will ever be a 50 metre kicker of the ball, more of a chipper into space for people to run onto. Like the Wombat Broderick used to. I still maintain that Brodders was one of the best kicks over 30-40 metres getting around. Just put them in font every time. Never tried to make the impossible kick. Think that was rainesy has to do, take them in for the run then look for the 40 metre option presenting.

Agree.

Going forward and breaking the lines(despite getting caught occassionally) is a damn sight better than the indecisive, negative, backwards, sideways crap of the Spud years.

Hear hear.

At this stage of our young blokes' development its great that they are encouraged to run, play on, take risks, beat the man. And also that they are forgiven if they do make a mistake.

It will make them into creative and valuable players later on.

Rainesy will get his chance in the midfield with Polo pushing to a wing,
They are just waiting on JON & Casserley to take up the roles at HBF - wow what a running side that will be in a few years time...................

B: Newman Thursfield Bowden
HB: JON Bowden Casserley
C: Polo Raines Hyde
HF: Pettifer Hughes Meyer
F: Brown *smile* Tambling

R: Simmons Deledio Foley

reserve that judgement....he can kick further than u think.....also how many times this year has he bursted from bl and hit someone 50 meters on the tit??? ive seen 90% of targets hit.........i think u have doubts because u still see him in the light of 2 years ago.......players mature and work on problematic areas and i think raines has showed that his evasive skills have improved and as the old timers would say its better to have control of the ball than watching someone with the ball

I think Wallace has done well bringing raines in off half back this year. Also i think the last couple of games he will play in the midfield to get a taste. Next year he will be moved there for the majority of the games with JON coming in to play on the half back line so he to can learn the game whilst getting a taste of the bigtime as raines has this year

It makes me sad when my mate RICHO is left out of the team! He reckons he can play til he's 35 like Lynchy!! so he still might make that team! It could nearly be next year!!!

Love the way he sweeps on the ball and drives it long.  He's crucial to our back six and provides so much run and drive.  Here's to many more years and wonderful games in the yellow and black.

Heard on my travels that there may will be a little bit more history repeating itself in a round about way with a former back pocket plumber very, very, very keen on getting the prodigal son away from Punt Road like he did with the father in a roundabout way. The plumber just loves history and would love for this to happen.

I hope this Raines wins a Premiership first then scoop, for history to repeat, then the plumber might get him, but would he hang onto this raines a little longer than the last time?

Won't happen Pooper Scooper. Heard senior say on many, many ocassions now that his single biggest regret in football was leaving the Tiges.

Further, he said his worst time in football was at Essendon, where and I quote: "I just didn't like the joint." I think there was some friction between him and the plumber as well. (Actually, imagine getting that bloke around to do your plumbing ? If you think you had a build up of sh*t in your toilet, that guy would come along and just add to it ! Geez ! )

I'm sure junior wants to stay a Tiger anyway, but his old man will also have a strong influence.

wish the plumber would go back to getting hair balls out of shower drains. He is shitting me right off with his poaching brag crap.

Yeah Redholden I heard Geoffery say the same thing. Smart words, I don't like the joint either.

But you know what the Plumber is like he would love to stir the pot or in the plummers case stir the poo.

With a cashed up Essendon on the prowl young Andy would have to be target and we as a climb cannot have him hanging out in the breeze. Let's sit down at the table and nut this thing out, just open negotiations.

The quicker we start the quicker we finish.

We have no right to complain about him trying ot poach players after our play at Solomon. If we do the right thing we wil lkeep our players.

Wasn't Sheeds cashed up and prowling for players last year?
End result Campore hamstring :rofl :rofl

Me thinx they got there eye on Aker but also on a young tiger named Hartigan to add pace to there side along with young Gibbs.

Raines

Andrew Raines had an impressive first up display against the Irish last night.Had his usual dash with the pill & his one percenters were very good.Must be bloody hard with the round ball.
