Angus Graham to Debut

havent been abke to see the game and probably wont be able to either. but listening to it on the radio yesterday it gave the impression that he competed well.

how did he play?

More chicks in your space, please

but seriously, your question is a valid one. I too am interested in GA's game. We have three young blokes picked last year's draft doing well, if Angus continues to improve, that two off the rookie list (King) into the main list.

he may be the best tap ruckman in the club already, and he got a nice holding the ball decision in his favor. But he is very, very raw. if he makes it he probably won't be a regular contributor until 2009.

WASN'T AS BAD AS I WAS LED TO BELIEVE! CONTESTED OK ,NEEDS TO BULK UP ALOT BUT MOST OF OUR LIST DOES :)

WORTH STICKING WITH I'D SAY

I thought he contested well yesterday. Won quite a few taps. A much better debut than I expected to be honest.

He also looks like he will fill out a bit as he gets older. Definitely worth persisting with IMO.

cant agree with you more. absolutely rapt and i must say surprised in his debut. he competed very well in the tap outs and i thought held his own considering the experience he was up against.

He's very raw, looked to be a bit slow around the ground, but most ruckmen are. His work at the centre bounces was extremely good and he's got a big body to go with his height. He looks to be worth persevering with and he's streets ahead of any other back up ruckman at the club.

without doubt, although our recent selection policy RE debutant players, im nearly certain he will be dropped.

He's not gonna disqualify himself for Coburg if he plays a few more games, right?

Then don't drop him until the last round, in time for Coburg's first final. The experience he'll gain playing against a Fraser, Cox and Hille et al will be invaluable for his development.

If anything, give Simmonds a break and bring back Patto. Simmonds just doesn't seem like the same player he was last year.

Yeah similar stats to knobel but there's no reason to suggest right now that A. Graeme's field game and stats won't pick up.

He's got the taps out of the way. The long term process of teaching him the rest is now underway.

Looked very good IMO for a first gamer going against Blake and King (make no mistake about it, Blake is a very, very good ruckman).

Should be retained and maybe even promoted in Knobel's place, then Rookie another one. Not saying he is anything like Dean Cox yet, but they are similar at the same stages of their career ;)

Agree DDT. A bit harsh to criticize his stats considering it was his debut match and he is only just off the rookie list. Thought he contested well and I saw him really putting in the effort quite a few times trying to do the defensive stuff. I think he looks quite promising and is most definitely worth persevering with.

Isn't it so Richmond like to start comparing a first gamer with one of the favourite whipping boys. It's a tough gig playing for the tigers.

His 13 hitouts in the first game was higher than Patto's and Jake's 2007 average.

Gus may struggle against the Pies because he needs a big immobile second ruck to match up against (like King) and the Pies don't often use that kind of player. He may get dropped, but that's okay, he's been blooded and being given hope that if he puts in a big preseason he may be contributer next year.
