Gus will be better than Marsh and Knobel. That's not saying much but it isn't a reflection of his potential to compare him to those two.
Gus can get it around the ground, take contested marks, is good at tapping to advantage (and will only get better) and he has good aerobic capacity.
Sure he looks a bit awkward and or unco when he kicks, but his kicking has improved out of sight. It needed to.
It is a very awkward style but it is effective more often than not. Wouldn't mind betting his effective kick stats for Coburg this year would reflect that.
 
I must admit I didn't see much of gus this year, but what I saw i did not like. He jibbed a boundry line ruck contest against the kangas. Ducked his head like he was bobing for apples.

Yeah, playing out a game with a broken ankle was weak as *smile*. Delist the soft bastard now, or I'm starting a petition.
 
The broken ankle bit was very impressive. Any club could do with a few more players with that sort of attitude.

But to mine, the jury is still way out on this guy.

I definately like the Rookie a Ruck idea mentioned earlier.
