PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Don't like to be negative & I am normally cautious about putting posts on that are downers, but I am sorry.......Big Angus isn't up to it. I am sure everyone would like to see him show why he has been retained on our list (& for those who think I am covering both bases I couldn't care less), however to date...nope... People have been critical of Troy Simmonds & at times with damn good reason - but at the moment he is still considerably better. Gus is slow, his co-ordination at times is appalling, christ, he fell over his own feet on Sunday against North & just lay there with his cheek pressed against the turf while North cleared the pill. Not his finest moment. To be a serious player at AFL level he should have been dominating while at Coburg & wasn't. Last season Cartledge did just that in a few games, I watched a couple where he was flogging the opposition ruck & he still got the flick at the end of the season. I have seen more from Vickery in his games this year to be enthused about. I know most pundits suggest that big blokes take time to mature. WHY ???? Tell that to Kreuzer, Natanui & Mumford. All I know is....a good big man is a good big man & normally is, :( at all levels of development, just as outstanding midfielders get drafted on what they demonstrate against others at the same age. Are people suggesting that we draft big boys whose greatest attribute is to sit on the bench in the hope that one day they will come good ?
