Another big occasion. | PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Another big occasion.

Last year Rnd 1 our boys went for the footy like their life depended on it. I expect the same this game. If anyone doesnt give 100% then they shouldnt get a game the week after. That would mean even if you have a stinker of a game that you still do the 1%'ers like tackling and chasing.

That's why we're not serious final contenders yet.
Then it's about time it changed. I really hope I'm not wrong, but the impression I get is that the team is fired up to make it change this season.

Agree. It's time. Yes we can.

The way the media are pumping up Carlton's tires and the way their old arrogant supporters are talking them up gives the Tigers a huge chance. The pressure is on the Blues. Hit 'em hard and hit 'em early and the Tigers can take this. Carlton are and always have been a confidence side, if Richmond can get a jump they should be able to register the victory.

Just like in our centenary game when we were 5 goals up and had'em on toast and then they ran over us like a bull.

Yeah right.

They didn't run over us like a bull. We lay down and let them skip between us like the fairies that they are.

Time to get that monkey off our backs, and beleive that we are a good team.

There are no excuses, they have quality players out and suspect, they have up to 4 young debutants playing.

We must win this game......MUST!!!!!

Yes the season is a marathon not a sprint, but this is the sort of game we should always win.

I DON'T WANT ANY MOFO EXCUSES FROM TERRY, HIS ASSISTANTS, THE PLAYERS OR ANYBODY!

Sick and tired of us losing big games. Won a couple against Essendon recently, (and the first game of last year), but we still fail far too often on the big stage
Round 20 last year was a reasonable effort :)

apart from the Centenary game last year, our track record on big-profile games and opposition milestone games has got better recently: (crunch games remain about 50/50)

Another big occasion and another occasion for those defended on PRE to fail under the spotlight.

The only "Big Occasions" we win are when the heat is on the opposition.

When the blowtorch of expectation is on us we invariably fold. Every supporter deep down knows this.

e.g. Hird & Sheedy's last game to win for their fans, and yet we won in front of 88,000.

Exactly right. They can not win when the pressure is on them to perform. It highlights the distinct lack of character in the team.

it was a nothing game. Had sentimental value only. In every crunch blockbuster game we fold like a bad joe hasham poker hand again and again.

Big game? Hardly, what did we have riding on that. Nothing.

Stage fright in front of 88000 didn't happen that night because there was no pressure on us to win.

But if we are expected to win in front of big crowds, we continue to lose.

I agree, but it also helped that Carlton weren't under nearly as much pressure - and we knew it. They took great joy in raining on our parade...if they lost they were only playing 4 kids amongst a team with only 2/3 the overall experience of us...I don't think Ratten was really expecting to win...not sure he cared so much. I still think that.

One of the biggest reverses I've seen. We just ocmpeltely folded/wilted/melted...ultimately lost it.

Worse than the Geelong game, worse than the Adelaide and Carlton games...really just no guts.

In order to live, you've got to be prepared to die...we looked terrified of dieing out there.
