Just wondering whether Jesse D Smith, a rookie from Carlton who has played 2 senior games, would be considered.

Too slow. His value got blown way out of proportion by a freakish grand final.

jeeze Phantom

you rated him highly for a while

Wrong poster.

apologies then - who have I confused him with redfox?

Sorry, by using my quote, I thought you were referring to me as being the wrap for JD Smith. Bit confusing.

No to all, geez lets get over discards ffs especially those who got the arse from Hawthorn after a few years, look where theyve finished over past 4 years ahem, we dont want their garbage.

All duds though on TW's thesis (and many here on PRE), we should pick up Brennan because he was a top 10 pick. Note also the Ox wrapped him up on SEN late last week.

IMO the Hawks will be a very very good team in a couple of years and will shoot past us with a bullet.

Which are the clubs that have done that to us a few times now over the last 24 years ?

Why do you say that jb?

They've had a lot of early picks over a few years now. Sure they won't all be good, or even make it but some will. They seem to be covering most types and positions on the ground with their early picks as well.

I like also that they have punted away players such as Everitt, Hay, Rawlings etc. to get those said picks.

Over the last 3 years the Hawks have put together a group of about 15 very talented young men.

If these boys are developed to near their full potential then there is no reason why they cannot form the nucleas of a very strong Hawthorn era of the future.

But the point remains that these players need to develop to near their full potential.

As for the delisted group at the head of this thread, I'd prefer a good junior to any of these.

Being drafted high is only a ticket to the big game. I agree it's obvious they have picked up some promising kids. However they have also lost a lot of experience from the top end which could destabilise the youngsters.
They also have apparent weaknesses in defence, hence the Thornton chase.

Who knows how these kids will turn out? There is no guarantee the Clarkson way is the road to success.
It's still too early to tell at this point whether their formula is better than ours.
