His current one year deal shows that Carr and Shai are willing to back themselves. If it’s not for good $ now they’ll take the shorter renewal and bet that the next deal will be better.

Already been shown with this years injuries that we can afford to lose plenty of players n still get by.
Aside from the fact that Ellis is considering his free agency options why should any of our premiership players be forced to wait on the decisions of an up n coming fringe youngster?

P.S. It's HOULI not Houlie.
Reckon Bolton is more than a fringe player now

He's played 22 games all up, 13 of a possible 20 so far this year. He's been developing slowly and carefully and is now hitting his straps very nicely, showing enough talent to be better than fringe latter half of the year. Was definitely fringe first half of the year, Stacka n Ross waltzed straight past him when we had injury issues. Turns 21y.o. at the end of this year so there's still another year or two before he hits his prime, no doubt he'll be offered an upgraded contract for two or perhaps three years. Probably be with some decent performance incentives built in. He's not yet established himself with consistent abilities to earn some sort of premium contract. Reckon that's for a couple of years down the track, 23 / 24 y.o. sixty or seventy games under the belt n then if he's nailed down his abilities consistently he'll get the fat contract.

I like Joe Daniher. Always have, I know we probs can't fit him in, but it would be cool to have a crack.

We already interviewed him two years ago and he has gone downhill since that point.

Gold Coast (SE - QLD).
So at the moment (just after semi’s)
We’ve got pick 18, 36 & 37.

Scuttlebutt reckons we’ll get 19 for Ellis and a 30s pick for butler.

That’s 5 good picks.

We could trade a couple of those picks for a 5-10 pick this year or next year.

Clubs racking up points for academy /FS picks might grab hold of that idea.

Outstanding..
Sitting as a top side in the comp over the last 3 years and we still have all our draft picks is a great outcome
Not like Collingwood losing 2 first rounders for Beams, Adelaide with Gibbs, Essendon Sheild,
I would package up 2 or 3 and make a play to get one in the top 10 or I would trade our first pick for a player that would fit our needs.
Oscar Allen would be a great get. Drop for a dud. Maybe upset.
18 36 37.
Pick 19 for Ellis ( he isn’t worth it but the cash says it will be a high pick)
Menadue and Moore might get us something. Where’s Fremantle?
McIntosh pick 70. Maybe
Bulter 25-35. High class footballer should get a good pick in return.
Caddy, I would shop around. GC there 2nd rounder.

Imagine winning a flag and having 7 picks under 50.
Outstanding list management.

Yep very good result to have 4 top 40 picks , hopefully after another flag.

Obviously we are very unlikely to ad proven high end talent to the list in the off season so heading to the draft and adding to our wealth of young talent can’t be a bad thing .

It’ll be interesting as to whether we clear the decks again with the VFL contingent eg Moore, Markov, Menadue etc.

Fair chance all will be gone, even though Markov is under contract. I hope we can hang onto the quality VFL players we have, their perfect types , however it’s got to be tough playing all year and having to give up a spot for an AFL listed player and then missing out on a flag

Moore Freo.
Why wouldn’t the doggies want Menadue, but chase a finished dud in Smith?
I would rather come last with 15 new kids, then our current crop.

If we do get someone I think it will be a fringe player. We’re always looking for the next Grigg, Houli types

Yeah it's a fair haul. Reckon we try and push the Butler pick into next years draft.
