Any PRE's in the Eureka Game Pre Entertainment?

I'd be interested to hear comments about the Eureka thing from anyone who was at the game. I've got to admit the whole scenario is part of the reason I didn't go to Melb today. I go to the footy for the football. If I want to be culturally entertained I'd go to the theatre or a concert. If I want historical entertainment I'd go to the museum or read a book. I'm not a fan of contrived draws or arranged annual meetings between any 2 teams.

There didn't seem to be much of a crowd there today looking on the telly but I don't know the actual figures.

Was it all worthwhile and something that will build up to be a blockbuster in future years or was it a bit of a lead balloon?

A balloon for mine. And should be pin-pricked asap.

Have no idea what the theme is meant to achieve, or what excitement having a few people wander around the boundary in their work gear is supposed to mean.

Absolute lead balloon. A fabricated concoction to justify the AFL giving the old fool Sheedy something to do. Complete waste of time. It couldn't have been any flatter. The crowd didn't even crack 40000; complete fizzer.

When you take into account half of the North members are made up of opposition sympathisers. No surprise less than 40k turned up

Free BBQ was nice, but I don't think the lack of promo, awful 4:40pm start time, and the fact we were playing the Kangas helped. If this is going to become a 60-70k game, it will take a whole lotta time and patience.

39,000 was disappointing for me, and I was on the ground in the Eureka celebrations!
was hoping to see 45K + and i think it will take time and more promos to get a 50,000+ crowd to the game, but any reason to boost crowds and more $$$ for rfc cant be a bad thing i suppose.

from where i was in the exhibition, i thought that some of the cotumes and stuff looked quite good but they probably needed twice the amount of people in the ground walk around to make more of a spectacle of it, but hard for me to judge as I was actually on the ground looking at it from a differnet perspective..........

Might have seen you. Were you the one who took a photo of the cheer squad? Or near it anyway?

The MCG website which I have found provides a reasonably accurate estimate reckons a crowd of only 37,000.

Official crowd of 39,292. Good estimate by the MCG.

Can someone explain why is was on Sunday night ? ::)

Surely a "theme game" would be played on a Friday or Saturday night.

Crap work by the AFL to prompt the game by sechudling it on a Sunday night

Hi Everyone

As promised...........
Here are the best dozen or so photos from the first Eureka Match - Richmond Vs North Melbourne, that I participated in on Round 2, March 30th, 2008
I have even thrown in some running commentary and special comments, but take no notice of that! :O)

Here is the link: http://www.jbprophoto.com/richvsnthmelbeureakaround2_2008.htm

Was a great thing to be involved in and walk around the MCG before the game! Would love to do it again next year!

Ah, I was next to you before we went on the ground. Great experience. I was in blue scrubs with a stethoscope around my neck.
