Any word on Rodans knee injury?

Considering the criticism he has received on his running style, hopefully this injury could help him learn more about that.

Hope you come back soon D-Rod

it seems there are a lot of sensitive people on this site. i did say i feel sorry for the kid but the facts are he has been a chronic underachiever and based on his input over the last couple of yrs he will hardly be missed.
i do hope him a speedy recovery and i also hope he can take the next step and become a good afl player but rest assured time is running out for rodan.

i feel sorry for the kid this yr was probably his last chance to prove he can cut it at afl level.
in reality though he has been a chronic underachiever we are not losing much if we lose him for the year as he hasnt had a good yr yet come on alex gilmore show us what your made of. the way some are carrying on you would think we have lost a michael voss.
I am sure that club will stick by Rodan.  He was certainly playing excellent footy and was showing that he is going that next level.  Rodan is young and will figure in our future.

Nah Claw, not sensitive, you're just seeing what sort of response you get when you make a complete and utter knob of yourself. I remember early days of your posting, thinking you had some well thought out postive contributions to make. Now, most of what you post I barely read, as it is usually complete and utter misguided tripe, but this sort of tactless crap makes my blood boil >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
Having been through doing a knee myself, its a shattering thing, not that you'd give a stuff what Rodan is going through. If you can't at least post something intelligent, don't bother posting at all.

Well said.

Let me say Claw, your comments are definately a low blow to the groin regions, but  your harsh assessments could prove correct.

You have way underestimated Rodan's ability. Of course under Frawley he didn't look as good as i know he is/will be. Shouldn't have to go over this again re: Frawley (no game plan, etc, etc....) Wallace is obviously a great footy brain and judge of talent and HE was the one Terry had massive plans for, who like a poster said ealier was a big big part of Wallace's blue-print. So Wallace has also overestimated Rodan's ability/potential too eh Claw? He was flying. Has the right style of play and new editions to the team that would have showed what a gun player D-Rod can be. So clean with his hands. Never fumbles. Quick legspeed, and a rare gift of elusive ability. He could pretty much evade anyone. Roda's a huge loss for the team. Don't listen to clown's D-Rod who don't have much footy nous.

how many on this site truly think rodan has been a well rounded consistent player if people are honest with themselves there cant be many. all i have said is based on past performances he will hardly be missed thats a fact. idont like to see anybody cop serious injury but just because hes copped one doesnt alter the fact hes underachieved or all of a sudden turned him into a superstar which is what one would think reading this thread.
i have left rodan alone because i believe he has some talent but a serios knee injury to someone who has struggled to establish himself an injury that may well stop him getting anywhere near his best for 2yrs means his career could well be over.ifeel for the kid but i will continue to be honest with my assesments on him.

Well said. It's just plain wrong. Rodan actually has a huge load of talent, which Wallace had huge plans for.

Go Tiges!!!

Tigers lose Rodan for season (The Age)
By Stathi Paxinos
February 28, 2005

Richmond says the Morwell ground is not to blame for the in-form midfielder's ruptured cruciate ligament.

Richmond midfielder David Rodan was yesterday ruled out for the season after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Tigers football manager Paul Armstrong said Rodan, who injured the knee in the final quarter of the 72-point win over Essendon in a practice match at Morwell on Saturday, would have surgery early this week.

But Armstrong said that the ground, the hardness of which was last year blamed by then Hawks coach Peter Schwab for knee injuries to Steve Greene and Kris Barlow, had been in good condition and had not contributed to Rodan's injury.

Tigers coach Terry Wallace had also given the ground the all-clear after the match.

"The field was in pretty good nick. It had several ground inspections, plenty of water, lots of grass coverage, (so) it was just one of those unfortunate incidents," Armstrong said.

"The Morwell people did as much as they could to have the ground in the condition it was and it was in very good condition."

Armstrong said that Rodan, 21, who has played 60 games for Richmond since making his debut in 2003, had been in impressive pre-season form, earning praise from Wallace.

"He's had a really good pre-season, he was leading the way in a lot of the areas and playing some good football, so he's devastated by the news," Armstrong said.

"It's obviously come as a shock to him. It was a pretty simple thing, just lunging at another player in a tackle and his knee gave way.

"It's just sad for him. We're rebuilding from scratch and to lose him after losing Jay Schulz (broken ankle) last week for a significant period of time - two young guys in two weeks - hopefully that's it for a little while now. We don't need to lose any more."

Armstrong said the club planned to have Rodan involved in community work and to keep him around the team. He said young defender Daniel Jackson, who received a knee in the back during a marking contest, and Joel Bowden, who missed the Essendon game with a rib injury, should be cleared to play next weekend.

Hawthorn's Ben Kane will be out of action for six weeks after scans..............

:'( That is so sad for David and the team...but let's look at it in this light

IN - Tambling, Deledio, Simmonds, Knobel, Coughlan, Hall, Tuck & WALLACE

OUT - Schulz, Rodan

Forget about Ottens & Fiora...they had every opportunity with us...good luck to them...remember Graeme Landy when he crossed from Geelong...he was a star with us...sometimes players need different scenery to play at their best...hopefully Knobel and Simmonds can do a Landy or Rowlings.

Claw, I seriously doubt you would be trying to justify your original statement if no-one had responded to it. Rather, I think you have been stung by the criticism of your opinion on David Rodan.
To that end: Whether or not Rodan will or won't be missed is purely opinion. Whether or not he is a well rounded, consistent player is also largely opinion as well. Definitely he is a player of talent. But, opinion or no opinion, I think I'll rely on Terry Wallace's judgement and assessment of who is or isn't talented and deserving of a place on the senior list at RFC. And opinion or no opinion, no player deserves such a scathing criticism after they have suffered an injury that will keep them out of the game for 9 to 12 months. If Rodan was your son, or a close relative, how would you then assess his talent?

•What you have shown by your original statement and subsequent bumbling attempts to justify it is that you are not an astute judge or accurate commentator of things football-related. Your post (in my opinion), has become typical of many of your posts: Inaccurate, negative, critical, ill-informed. At times, I almost get the sense that you are posting to up your count. Wit, Intelligence, Positive thought and Insight would elicit a kinder assessment of your ability as a poster on PRE. I just hope you don't do a knee..... ;)
Claw, show some ticker and think your posts over more carefully in future.
Mind you, this is just opinion... ;D

Claw you don't kick a guy when he's down and that's pretty much what you did. Mate, when even diggler can post something tactful you've gotta know you said the wroing thing.

Claw, your constant baggin of Rodan is uncalled for.

I wouldn't have said he was consistent player. But he was reaching the next level and an important player in a make or break year. He broke, and you're trotting all over him!

Give the guy a break. Be it against your will or because you've realised what an arse you're being.
