Are commentators becoming dumber?

If the games are divided as rumoured [ch7 & Ch 10 2 games each and Foxtel 4] i can see the following:
Ch7-Bruce,Brian Taylor & Tim Watson-To do both games Friday night & Sunday.
CH10-To stay the same
Foxtel-Clinton & Commetti to be the anchors for Foxtel.

One person who is very underated is Wayne Schwass.

They are  :'(

Huddo
Barnsey

One positive new addition is Alistair Lynch....... he speaks better than he fights  ;D ;D
Leppitsch made a solid debut.

Wayne Carey started out alright but is losing credibility by pumping Collingwood at every opportunity :vomit

Agree with that Mr Sneeze. Carey would alienate a lot of the female audience so doubt he will get a mainstream gig. Ca

Don't think much of the bloke's character, but Carey is excellent as a commentator on Fox imo. Besides being very knowledgable about forward line tactics in particular, he calls it like it is and isn't afraid to call a spade a spade.

Schwass is another one I like. Good thinker.

Agree re Sentiments on Schwass. They may have done him a disservice by allowing/making him call the games. Was terrific as the special comments guy.

Also have a bit of time for KB except for his over use of the word 'mighty' and his over prnunciation of the 'Saint' when talking about St Kilda.

(Yes I know, a bit pedantic)

I heard craig hutchison calling on the radio and if he is going to call for 7 next year turn off the tele and tune into 774 as he is dead set shocking

Yes commentators are becoming dumber.

1st prize to John Barnes.  He makes Christi Malthouse look like a footballing genius.

2nd prize goes to the bloke (mental block on his name) on 774.  "Oh look Richmond are signing footballs and handing them out to the crowd"!!!  Err only being doing that for 18 months!

3rd prize MMM - all trying to outdo each other, yelling, shouting, Frawley trying comedy,  :P

However I like the way Luke Darcy goes as a special comments man!!  8)   >:D

Wayne Carey is actually quite good. He is insightful and adds a new dimension to calling. He does shoe a scum bias but he has a great udnerstanding of the game and what is happening. His ability to analyse the play and players is noteworthy.

Still cannot take to Mr Potato Head. He should concentrate on raising spuds instead of making special comments and the best things Gary Pert ahs done for football is ditch Sam. We only get the AW and ABC call but quite frankly getting sick of Rex and his crew. They are starting to focus on theatrics rather than call a game which they did so well a few years back.

Bring back the Captain and the Major!

Dont mind Jim Bob Brayshaw as a commentator. But the dead set worst commentator i have eva heard is TONY SHAW! watched the replay of the kangas game, my goodness, nearly made me turn it off!

MMM normally has a current injured or suspended player in the box with them calling the game, can b very insightful listening, remember listening when big fev calling and he was head and shoulders a better special comments caller than ne1 in the MMM box. Put D Frawley 2 shame, not that it would take much!

KB calls in a very old style, which personally i dont like. So dont really enjoy listening 2 him repeat his catch phrases every week.

Just my humble opinions!

with special comments from Laurie Sandilands  :clap

Great to listen to but old Jack never gave any clue as to what part of the ground the play was at  ;D

The big problem with KB is that he has tinge of bias in Richmond games and always mentions how he coached a young team. It was always stronger when Campo and Knights played.

I think having McGuire as the boss of the footy coverage now big boss has had an impact. Instilled a very giggly, boyinsh, blokey culture in the commentating. Someone posted a very funny post about the psuedo, ocker-style they adopt recently. I like KB, but I would'nt like to listen to him every week, says 'lucks a fortune' and 'big pack of players' a lot. I like Commetti but he's satrting to beleive his own hype as a witty cult-figure. BT is no nonsense and good. I used to hate Walls but hes been one of the few giving us a bit of credit.

Lane craps me right off, carlton suckhole.
