PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

The irritating Richmond player thread gave me an idea for a thread that pays out on people other than Tigers.

Seriously, is it just me, or are footy commentators, especially TV commentators, becoming more stupid by the season? In an age where there are as many stats in footy as in baseball, they seem intent on crapping on about meaningless figures or wasting time trying to better the last comment that one of their co-comentators just made.

Dermie seems fixated on adding new words to the English language, unfortunately, his vocabulary is so small that most of the words he "invents" already exist - it's just that they have different meanings that Dermie would like them to have.

Dennis Commetti (sp?) is head and shoulders above the next-best TV comentator, but he spends a lot of time these days working on his latest witty pun.

Tim Lane has just completely lost the plot and spends most of his time trying to build up his latest conspiracy theory.

Garry Lyon showed early promise, but now seems content to be Eddie's yes-man/clone - I can't bear listening to him when Collingwood are playing.

Are there any decent commentators left - ones who will simply call the game and are able to paint a mental picture of what is going on, while also being able to engage in some analysis at better than a fifth grade level?
