We have a handful of young player who I believe IFthey could reach there "POTENTIAL" could make a huge difference to us.

Meyer-been discussed at length an no one would argue that he has oddoles of talent but has not fired a shot.

Hughes-Kicked 6 goals in 2 weeks against WC an Geelong this season ,can look a star but do's he want IT?

Casserly-Has modern day HB written all over him big quick skilled but will the body hold up?

JON-I have probally always been a critic but do's have the Xseriously who knows?

Morton-Ooozes class an has had a great impact in the WAFL ,will he make at impact at Punt Rd?

Sarge-Will luck be on his side an will he realise what hard work is before its too late?

White-Tough,hard,disciplined but has he got the game for the AFL?

Collard-Will he take the opurtunity :owoops :hihi

Meyer and Hughes are soft and have no heart so i say NO
Casserly is good but he needs to get his injuries right
JON and Sarge don't have a brain between them so i will say NO
White, works hard and will be a good depth player
Collard is the most skillful of the bunch but i would prefer Gourdis.

So, CC, what you're doing here is questioning the Wizard of Oz draft of 2005. One doesn't have a footy brain, one doesn't have a heart and the other needs a stronger body.

Does that mean that you're Dorothy?

I hope the coaching staff can instill the necessary confidence into many of these players because on the face of it there is plenty of talent there. it'll be quite frustrating if a few of them don't reach their 'potential' :spin.

Time is probably running out. It's a big season ahead for those you've listed CC.

With Rance, Putt and probably Gourdis on the list now the competition is fierce among the big guys for once so if you falter I doubt if there's gonna be too many chances for you.

I'm really not sure about Meyer, I've seen him look very handy in games as a raw kid and many other times you couldn't find him with GPS out on the field. When he was recruited some in SA were saying he was a potenital wanganeen. Lot of ground to make up, I just hope his main problem is injuries and if so he gets a good run. At the very least you have to wonder if his body can stand up week in week out.

Hughes I am a fan of, but will be useless to us unless someone can get in his head. He needs a serious attitude adjustment / kick. He could be a great player if someone can get in his head. So more a coaching question than player in my mind. His clearly not going to do it alone. Though he is still young. Some mature late.

Casserly similar to Myer. Seriously have to wonder if his body can stand up to the rigours of AFL.

JON i think will come good.Funnily enough I have warmed to him suddenly after being unsure for a while. I have been watching a lot more of the indigenous kids / and NT comp though I am not sure why, just a instinct (and yes i know JON is from East Perth). A lot of the indigenous kids fire up later in their careers. They are naturally slight/skill based players, not to mention the ones from NT / QLD etc usually come from very poor preparation bases. His a good size, has I believe got genuine talent, Just needs a good run with injuries and to get conditioned. He could be a bolter in a year or two. He'll never be a hard at it player but not every player in every side is.

Sarge I have always been a supporter but he lost me this year. HIs had long enough and even when I was a fan I must admit he has always given me the impression of being VERY slow mentally out on the footy field. He seems to need to take a long time to think which won't cut it in this day and age. Love to see him pull his finger out, but i don't have a lot of faith anymore.

White I just don't think is good enough. I like his attitude and bit of a edge but I don't think his a AFL level midfielder which is what his there for. We don't need him to play anything else at his size and he is certainly not a small forward. Good depth player? Yeah, good call.

I would be wrapped to pick Collard. Indigenous players play better with fellow blood around them. His the best talent in the PSD for my money (considering the state Sampi is in. I heard Connelly say last week Sampi would not realistically be at his best till 2009. That's a guy in a shocking state who wasn't seriously injured and played little footy last half of this year.)

Yeah interesting bunch CC.

Meyer is one that frustrates the hell out of me. The first game I saw him play against Carlton I thought he was going to be a genuine star. Then went missing until the Geelong game where he showed a lot. Skill, composure under pressure and looked like he could turn it around, but then nothing after that. Certainly looks to have all the skills, but just hasn't come on. Good to see he has finally put on some size this year by the look of it and if he is going to do anything this has to be the year or he will be gone. Love to see this kid turn it around. Could be a real asset.

Hughes is much he same. Has shown great signs at times, but ended up playing in the VFL seconds grand final, but as DD says I think its all in his head, not a lack of talent, but he too needs to start showing something on a consistent basis.

Casserly I haven't seen play, but wraps are good as long as he can keep his body together, hopefully another full pre season under the belt will stand him in good stead to show what he has.

Sarge, yet another talent that has not deliverred. Will he make it, I don't know. As a bigger bloke he may take time to mature, but his time is running out and if he hasn't reading the writing on the wall after the trade period he has some problems.

JON. Well what can you say. Seems to be going backwards.....Really needs to turn it around.

White will be a depth player at best IMHO.

Collard....well is he on our list yet. ;)

I hope the smiling face doesnt mean we are taking CC with the No.1 PSD pick there CC Tiger?

Anyway, the odds say that of your mentioned list many of them won't make it. Schulz, Hughes, Meyer, JON are quickly running out of chances. Casserley, White and Morton, time will tell.

If we were to use the past 25 year history at the RFC as a guide you'd have to say we'd be lucky to get 1 who would be considered a quality AFL player.

Schulz is in the Ben Holland mode; we wait season after season for this KPP to deliver but it never seems to come (and I dont think it will come either)

Morton: again history says we don't do very well with other clubs recruits. Sure we've had some success (Cameron, Broderick, Gaspar,) but many, many more who we haven't had success with.

White: I like him but I get the feeling he'll always be up against it. The battler who'll be on out list for 3,4,5 seasons and eke out 20-30 games only to be moved on.

Hughes: same as Sarge. We'll keep him for another 2 seasons and live in anticipation of success that just won't come.

Meyer; as with many other interstate recruits (especially from SA) a small/mid that won't develope with us.

Casserley: I really havent seen enough but already the signs aren't great given his run of injuries.

Collard: didnt know he was a RFC player ;)

So if I were to pick 1 that will make from that list? Pot luck, I'd take a punt and say Casserley.

i guess this is one of the reasons i dont buy into the "be patient" cries from so many, yes its alright to give players time but if they arent improving or atleast showing the desire then how long can you wait for them to deliver?

yes they all have talent but so do most other afl players, its the hard work and proper coaching that takes some to the next level and leaves the others behind

guys like jon and casserly still need more time because it was clear when we drafted them they were never going to be ready for a while yet, its guys like schulz, meyer, moore, white who will be under the pump in 08 imo

Take away White and Casserly and the rest have really struggled to get their heads around the mental riggers of league football, there is plenty of talent but until things such as work ethic and disapline can be learnt there is no point worrying about talent.

JON to me looks like he is a boy amongst men, he looks to be timid. I am sure he is a nice kid but maybe someone needs to unearth some anger in him.

The other glowing problem with many of the names mentioned is that their bodies are slight and not up to playing senior footy, why that is I have no idea, could be genetics, could be laziness, until they can put on some size and some strength they will be destined to keep cutting the oranges....especially seeing as the depth around the clubs seems to be improving.

Maybe why we're looking for pschologist/mental improver/head examiner or whatever it is. Know some players have ability but don't show it much. Time to lift the lid and see if anythings there. :help
If not, reckon they'll be 1st gone next year.
Can be patient, but you want to see the graph heading upwards at some point

Was thinking that you had let our psd pick tomorrow slip, since you were in the know draft day! But apparently Miller has said we will be taking a defender, unless he is trying to fool Carlton (Dunn)

Ho there prenders!

These players are gonna kick some rather salubrious posteriers next year Im tellin yas for free!
Ya know why?
Cause I paid me membership Sunday and Im gonna wear me new cap and stick it up the Brispain liars supporters and just sneer at the pussycatkitties supporters by tellin em that its nice to see that the catters have won a flag FOR ONCE!

Morton , then daylight. He has been grounded at the right club, hopefully he doesn't play down to his surroundings.
